There's a much bigger story than "divorcing couple that want to bring each other down." They are a codependent TOXIC couple who refuse to break-up no matter how much they hate each other and how awful they've made each other. And yeah, as others say- definitely not their debut album. Hell, the entire album is a concept album about the couple but he'd been writing songs about them for YEARS before it.

THEIR DEBUT ALBUM, TALLAHASSEE BRUH THATS LIKE THEIR TENTH ALBUM OR SOME SHIT 😂
@adityakhanna113 Жыл бұрын
Yeah lmfao. But probably debut studio album. Because the one before that was All Hail West Texas and that ain't studio
@RobotsWithKnivesCartoons Жыл бұрын
@@adityakhanna113 I think All Hail West Texes was mastered at Tiny Telephone studio, it wasn't recorded at a studio, but it was def mastered at one. Still very lofi.
@garrenbrooks4778 Жыл бұрын
@@RobotsWithKnivesCartoons All Hail West Texas was actually a throw back to the days when John would make lofi albums, since The Mountain Goats had been professionally producing albums in the studio for a while at that point.

I know this song from moral Orel and yeah- from what I know this is not simple song about “divorce.” It’s about two people who are in an awful toxic relationship and hate each other so much it’s all they really have. They cannot get away from each other and there hate grows more and more everyday. The two are in such misery and the blame it on the other person claiming that they’ll take them down. A perfect song fitting the story of Bloberta and Clay.

Kinda wack that TikTok kids use this audio and not have a damn clue and meaning or weight of it and then say say 'no children is edgy to the point of comedy'
@fulana_de_tal Жыл бұрын
yeah like that specif lyric when isolated feels edgy, but if you listen to the whole song, it's a slow build up of hatred, that is literally the last sentence of the song, of course it doesn't carry it's full meaning without the rest
@fulana_de_tal Жыл бұрын
plus that's not even the best part of the song

I don’t have a TikTok account, didn’t find it on TikTok or Moral Oral, whatever that is. I saw a tumblr post referencing a recording of it that’s just an audience singing it, and how cool that recording was because even though the lyrics are tragic, you can literally hear how much the crowd singing loves the song and is enjoying singing it, which is like. Amazing
