I know exactly what you're talking about, some things are easily diagnosed and repaired but sometimes it takes time to figure out the problem, sometimes there's multiple problems you have work through. You have nothing to apologize for these people's expectations are ridiculous especially when you've never touched the equipment.

People seal up a house tight, and then have to install a fresh air intake. I saw on a home building show years ago where some contractors were no longer installing that house wrap stuff because houses really do need to breath. Insulation is good, up to a point.

At the end of your video I agree with you we had a boiler go out and they called a contractor out as soon as the contractor got there all you heard was I need a ETA on when this is going to be completed is it fixed yet is it fixed yet the guy had been there only 5 minutes the guy made up an excuse saying it was ignition module $750 module I show up on Monday pop the lid on the gas tank and say you're out of gas and I have a video of them filling that very tank that's why you should never bug the contractor they are here to fix your problem let them fix your problem Great Video oh but to be fair the gauge was stuck on the gas tank but if you can press in the fill valve with your finger there's no pressure in your tank that's what I did call the gas company the tank took 768 gallons thanks for this video keep them coming

Had the same issue with the same contactor only three weeks old on a performance series carrier 2 speed. Ive noticed the impatience more and more as well. Sometimes I take the blunt approach and tell them that I need to foucs and that Ill bring them news if there is any, the other thing i do is just ask them, " are you on a time constraint?" they usually take a breath and realize their rushing me and go away or say yes and then I can get a clear picture of how much time theyve got allotted.

Ive went to a customers house who had installed their own ecobee stat, along with this power pack thing that gave the stat a common wire since one wasnt there (it was, just wasnt hooked up...) on the previous stat. I go there and the stat was rebooting constantly, like this one. Come to find out, customer doesnt know how to read the color codes and plug yellow into y, red into r, ect. and he was so sure that he had it all working fine for a few months Mr. Airplane engineer knows what he is doing. I uninstalled the power pack, re wired the system while also connecting common. Tried it again, stat now turns on but is making the cu short cycle and shit. Made system act CRAZY. Blower wouldnt even turn on. Asked him for his old stat (took about 20 mins of convincing that his stat was trashed and that my wiring was not to blame). Told him to not open his system again. Oh, and to send that ecobee back for a new one because R was plugged straight into 240v. The whole time i was there he doubted me because im a young kid lmao. Keep to your airplanes dude.

Had a set of hvac installers come out to install new system, said they were going to install filter dryer inside near air handler. Great, I will sit inside in front of fan playing poker on my laptop. I too, am also an engineer dude. After they finished and left I looked over system and could not find the filter drier. Looked inside and out. Next day called hvac boss man and he came out and looked inside outdoor unit and pointed at compressor muffler and told me there it is. Long story shorter, he sent out tech to install a filter drier, I set in my chair playing poker until he finished and left, than again looked over system. He installed a one way drier for a straight ac system and not the bi directional one needed for a heat pump, which is what I had installed. So another call back, which both could have been averted had I been a helicopter. So its a two way street, not all techs are supertechs, which most of the young ones think they are.

Got to a ladies house found 2 of 3 induce draft furnaces not vented properly. I turned off the gas and told her they needed to be vented properly or I could not let them run. The vent pipe was not out of the envelope. Exhaust gas was going into the attic. The roof had such a severe pitch I could not climb it. I couldn’t get a rope over it to repel. Had them fancy gables. I told her I could not climb her roof and she insisted that I do. So I told her I would set up my ladder. She could climb it and I would fallow her. She said she would not get on that roof and I told her I wouldn’t either. Lol I still laugh about that. I’m not going to die to fix someone’s ac or heat. It’s dangerous enough doing it safe. People don’t get it. Be safe

I had a coworker go up on a roof but would come down. I told him I was going to hold the ladder to no avail. I went up and down at least twice. He got down when my boss arrived and hold the ladder for him.

What are the burn marks on the air handler case? From brazing the lines? Looks like smoke residue, though.
@picklerix61623 жыл бұрын
Those burn marks are the sign of an installer who is in a big hurry to braze. I used a propane torch and Stay-Brite 8. The soft solder flows so nicely at a much lower temperature.

Have anyone seen problems with xl850 thermostats in 2019 and 2020 ? Like internal thermostat temperature sensor showing wrong temperature, because it’s picking up some internal heat from the thermostat? Trane installed 2 xl850 within a month, 04/2020, both bad. Then installed a xl1050 instead, and no problem. Trane tech support, told installer to add wireless temperature sensor to overnight thermostat temperature sensor. But that’s ripping off customers, by knowingly hiding de faulty thermostat.

Before the customer continually asks, "are you done?" I have the conversation that I will be doing "laps" from inside to outside for the next hour testing and retesting, and I will let you know if I need anything. When they start to hoover, just let them know I wasn't expecting an audience, and my talent agent says I should charge more if I have an audience. Most people laugh and get the hint. Some people just keep up the annoying behavior. PS- You can't order an HVAC diagnostic on Amazon, even if you are a Prime Member!

I was at a house once where the customer watched my every move and commented on it. My intentions were to check the tstat. So I took the face off and she goes "now the fans not running" and I proceeded to put it back on the wall. If she wasnt there I would of jumped it out right then...it took me about 30 mins of checking everything else to where I jumped it out and it turned out to be a bad stat... to this day I dont know why I listened to her and not just did what I knew to do lol
@picklerix61623 жыл бұрын
These communicating thermostats are expensive ($359) and the unneeded complexity makes them prone to failure. I would trust a $40 Honeywell thermostat before one of these communicating thermostats.
