This is exactly why I do my own work. Anyone can throw parts at it... Finding what's actually wrong is a different story.

I got my epa cert just bc these techs lie so much. They know our choice is to pay or sit it the heat. Tech lied to me a month ago, said i had to replace EVERYTHING. $8,307. Fixed it myself for $400. Its absolutely disgusting what theyre doing to people who dont even know theyre being lied to.

Well yeah but it will be alot of parts if you dnt know HVAC

Nice camera work when checking at compressor terminals. Thanks for sharing.

The compressor was changed out. The factory doesn’t leave big drips of solder on their connections.

Really wonder what I’m gonna find once I change this.

Sloppy change out, short cuts .🤔🙏😔

That funny we install them on all new ac installs and when we replace capacitors!

@@DillonMcHerron1 Umm wut. Thats a very bad thing to do.
@milotorres68943 жыл бұрын
Especially in hot areas,they don't get to much of a chance to cool off in between cycles ,👍🤔🙏
@tomtom15412 жыл бұрын
@@DillonMcHerron1 why would you do that? The intended purpose is for an old / worn out compressor to help it start. A normally working compressor doesn't need it.

You try hard to get them going. That's good. I would have checked mf then locked rotor amps and called it bad compressor. If it was my house then I would have removed fan, push in disconnect then immediately hit it with a hammer so I can have cold air until a new comp installed. Works great deal of the time
@HVACGUY3 жыл бұрын
A hammer?

I like to hit stuck compressors with a rubber mallet

That's funny ,but hey if works temporary ,let her have it,👍🤔😊

Copeland app works good for verifying winding resistances. I have seen stalactites on factory joints before, even pieces of rod. I had a compressor that was stuck installed 4 months ago that didnt even get its first run yet. Suprised a Copeland is stuck, I usually have to deal with the LGs that take a crap all the time.

A total of 1.5ohms from run to start seems very low, but the LRA spec of 117amps is close to what you measured. That's a weird compressor. Alost like it's designed to trip breakers

You need some knee pads, or a pillow for your knees.

We’ll time waste just to say I going to replace a compressor I find some times bad cables from the compressor to the contractor or capacitor check for continuidity
@smacleod693 жыл бұрын
That hard start probably ruined the start winding.

Just a Joe-home owner here are compressors covered under a manufacture 10 year warranty?
@HVACGUY3 жыл бұрын
Normally yes
@TheGgin3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately this unit was not registered, didn't get enhanced warranty.
@Sundog081110 ай бұрын
I thought if it was at LRA, compressor is junk. You want it at RLA, right? Unless you had your meter on hold from startup?
@slicktmi9 ай бұрын
Yeah meter was on inrush amps so it caught the lra
