OMG!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I stumbled across your first class yesterday after one of the hardest years ever in my life - lots of illness, lots of loss - and I am finding my joy in making again. I never thought I would ever knit again, much less socks, but your kind, gentle, patient teaching has helped me more than you could possibly know!

Oh my goodness. I had a difficult health issue that have left my brain and my hand strength in another room. Well it feels that way. Now I have been inspired to try and knit again through the therapist. She told me I”bet you can’t knit me a sock for my birthday”. I told her I use to knit socks all the time. I told her the bet was on! For the life of me I could not remember how - I just sat and cried because my hands and brain could not remember. Then a few weeks passed and I was scrolling through you tube and saw you video. I played it for hours getting back some memories. I jumped into the car and visited the local knitting store. I got your list and ocean blue and wheat color sock yarn. While I was paying the owners said “I though you were done with knitting when your friend donated all your needles and stash to the kids wool project”? I just smiled and said “well - now I am ready to just knit without fear”. She had a little giggle. I just smiled. It took me a while and I always knew I could be comforted by the videos and your warm inspiring voice. I did it and my Physical Therapist got her socks. I told her that I adjusted the pattern that is why the mistakes may look like a choice of lace - she said “they are perfect”. Thank you

So delighted to have found you. I love the fact that you hold the yarn in your right hand as I'm from Ireland and that is how I knit. I have knit a lot of different things down through the years but the last time I knit socks was in school using 4 double pointed needles and what a nightmare. Thank you for giving of your time to help us learn new things.

I had this video saved a while now, until I was ready to make socks. This will be my first pair without someone sitting beside me the whole way. I live your enthusiasm. I, too, nerd out on everything yarn and knitting-that’s how I am learning. I love this format. I like to stop and rewind and watch over and over again. I so appreciate what you have brought to all of us.

hi Denise, you have NO idea how much you saved me!! as you know prices are up on anything, so one week I bought the needle, i chose CheaGo and the next week I bought Patons FX, and the next week, I got the other ball of yarn. I have honestly been trying to "get" magic loop, for 2 weeks now. i said to myself, self, if you cant "get it" by the end of this weekend it will be time to give up the fight, and then....your channel came up in my feed, and you have made it clear as crystal i caught the why of ending up with extra stitches, yarn clump up at the joining, i made a pot of tea and settled in for the night, and BAM I got it, through you. whew, you are one kind woman , artist to donate your lessons to anyone. THANK YOU, JoAnn

Hello Denise! Thank you so much for giving so much of your time and your love of knitting to develop these videos for us. I finally understand how to knit in the round because I’ve been knitting in the Turkish method in flat panel for all my socks. I’ve never been able to find a class that would show me the easiest way to go about knitting in the round. I am so grateful for you and all the love and enthusiasm that you’re bringing to us in these classes. Don’t change anything as long as you’re comfortable doing what you’re doing with your teaching. God bless you and tight Angel hugs.

Thursday 8:30 pm. I’ve started! And have been frustrated, tangled, confused, started over, and feeling some success, some excitement, and thrill that I have completed 6 rows doing magic loop and 6 rows using 2 circulars, 🤩. And I never got any nail polish, and only used the wrong needle for about 1/4 of a round before I realized it 😂 and backed up and fixed it. Your video is fabulous. I keep my iPad close at hand and can readily go back to the time stamp for each method to find what I am confused about, and rewatch until I’ve got it, or at least feel like I am on the right track and and continue forward. The best thing of all, is that I constantly hear positive comments and reminders from you, that it will take time, and will become easier 💛. I have done socks on dpns before, and actually finished them, but am happy to be trying these methods; and am hoping as the class continues I will find the best, happy way for me to make socks 🧦. Bravo, Denise.

Same here, I tried all methods and all kinds of needles and still prefer metal DPNs or FlexiFlips ("self-made" by connecting 3x2 Chiaogoo tips with 5cm cables - those cables conveniently come in a pack of three). As a seasoned knitter you can make perfect socks even with the cheapest DPNs available (but again, for speed I recommend metal ones, the more slippery the better).

@@achimwasp @Susan Beekman DPNs are so cool. There is something that drew me to DPNs when i first saw them. and i love the wooden needles. I'm still a neophyte but seeing Earthtone's circs in action gave me a whole new perspective -- especially when she taught magic loop! She made metal circs look so cool that i went and bought a whole set and committed to using them despite not feeling my technique was good enough to jump to them. Cool you made the your own implementation of Flex DPNs.

You didn’t mention it in supplies 😂and I can’t leave to run get some, I’m waiting for my grandson to be dropped off for me to watch him overnight 😍. And we might be getting a winter storm, so I may be housebound tomorrow. Of course, I can start with magic loop, I have that needle too, but I’m not as interested in it. Even though I have been knitting for over 6 or 7 years now and done my fair share of socks, I just learned something really useful from your series. @ 22:00 mark when you show how to join in the round by switching the stitches from one needle to the other to avoid the big gap when starting to work in the round. I have always been annoyed at that gap, and had to sew it closed using the tail, but now i tried it out in my sweater sleeve and it looks so neat and tidy with no extra work or effort. It really goes to show that even if you think you know a lot and have experience, it never hurts to go back to the basics and listen to others. Thank you so much for the amazing tutorials, can't wait to see what more I will learn from you Denise!

Hi Denise. I've commented in the past but today I wanted to let you know my 2.25 mm circulars have arrived. FINALLY! Despite being in the midst of a sweater I had to put it aside and start my socks. I used a twisted long-tail cast-on to start instead of casting on over two needles. It gives a lovely edge to the cuff with lots of stretch. Thank you for the detailed instructions and videos. Both have been so helpful. It is great to be able to skip ahead or go back to refresh my memory. Seeing you knitting reinforces the instructions... which is perfect for me. Visual instruction is the most beneficial. Also, in a later video the white sock over the rose background works well. I must remember to use contrasting background when working a complex knitting pattern. Again, Thank you. Dorothy (aka GrammyDsKnitting on Ravelry)
