Bombed the 5minute presentation pretty hard since I had no time to prepare but I aced the 20 minute one like a natural. Spent about 2 hours a day rehearsing for 5 days leading up to the presentation. I think I got a 98% on it.

Notes: Technique 1: Greet anxiety and acknowledge that it's normal and natural to be nervous Technique 2: Reframe as conversation, not a performance - by asking questions and polling - use conversational language Technique 3: be present-oriented - focus on the present but not the future - e.g. count down, tongue twister Thanks for the useful tips! I have learnt a lot from this video!

1. asking questions beginning of the speech 2. be present, less worry about the future (listen to music, count backwards) 3. do tongue-twister 4. use conversational language

@@janellenevarezgomez3935 I had to speak to two different groups and after the first one I realised that I coukd use what I found hard as a great ice breaker. I found it hard to say "employability practitioner apprenticeship". By starting off saying that I have practiced saying it hundreds of times and still find it hard to get it right. People try saying it and start smiling. It turns talking at people, to talking with people. After talking, people were coming up saying that it was hard to say, to many p's. I want to get good at public speaking and you can only get good at it, by doing it. Thank you kindly for asking. 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 👍🏽 🖖🏽

One other thing I would like to recommend is that there are apps in virtual reality that help you with giving speeches. The apps have you present in different scenarios and it feels real. There are games like Horizon in oculus that give you a chance to talk in front of live audiences too. Both instances feel very real and it's a good way to practice. Once you do it a lot of times, you become more comfortable and you can train your brain to focus on your the information you're presenting rather than thinking of a performance.

Framing the presentation as conversation certainly helps, and starting with questions makes this aspiration a reality. Thanks for sharing this practical, often overlooked tip.

’ve developed severe anxiety when speaking not just to a group but one on one and it can be a spontaneous conversation in passing. This only happens in work settings. I feel like I can hear my blood flow, I’m trembling on the inside and I feel like I’m going to pass out. The last thing my anxiety does in help me focus. Most of these videos are geared towards public speaking to a group. This is not the case for me.

Hi, @Trend Me. I would be really interested in learning more about your experiences relating to public speaking and/or any anxieties you may still currently face. I’m looking to interview individuals (purely for my own research) to help me build a new workshop I’m working on. It would mean the world to me if we could hop on a quick call and I could ask you a few questions. OR if you know of someone who fits this description, please tag them below/introduce me. Feel free to tag me here with a reply if you’re interested :) Super appreciate your shared insights in advance.
