There are colts and fillies in the village who have no mark. It's never explained, but presumably Starlight would wait until their marks appeared and then immediately take them. Season 5 is very good. I look forward to seeing your reactions to it.

And so your journey through season 5 begins Scoot! Season 5 is one of my favorite seasons, Especially because this is the season where the Mane characters visit new locations in Equestria that were only mentioned! As for this two parter it was very interesting to learn about the cutie mark map and the Mane 6's connection to it! And of course a lot of people in the fandom immediately adored Starlight Glimmer as a new villain! Hell to this day "In Our Town" is still one of my all time favorite season 5 songs! It was also interesting to learn that Starlight alone had the ability to affect cutie marks with her magic especially removing them from ponies body's. But at least she was defeated and everything worked out in the end, But rest assured that this won't be the last we see of Starlight Glimmer or her old village.

No wonder they got rid of their cutie marks so easily if they got trashed constantly. The cutie map is terrific as a plot device it leads to so many great adventures all over the world. And Starlight is a great character.

Season 5.. let's GO! Easily the strongest overall season in the show (Season 7 is a very close second) and with one of the best premiers. MLP doing Harrison Burgeon meets 1984 with a heavy dash of cult thrown on top..... and making it work!

Trixie’s amulet. One of my favorite 2 part episodes, exploring a bit more with CMs, relatively dark and unsettling. Starlight is a great villain, she is manipulative, powerful and overall entertaining to watch. We finally have a normal pony as a major villain.

So regardless of if Starlight believes Fluttershy has turned in that moment. It is still not a bad idea from a cult perspective. Fluttershy has already shown her self to be both sympathetic and supportive of the town over all. So getting her away from her real friends and love bombing her would likely be more effective of a conversion method than torture.

Some references one won't get unless one was there and lived and breathed the fandom. However, it isn't forced so it doesn't go too over one's head. And hey, you weren't alone with mixing up Starlight and Sunset. Just try to remember that Sunset's the color of sunset and you'll be fine... unless one is colorblind... and some are mane blind... mark blind... face blind... "Of course one gets face blind from a cartoon show where all faces are identical!"

Sunset and Starlight aren't related, but they are VERY similar character concepts as foils for Twilight, being extremely powerful unicorns whose talent is specifically magic (same as Twilight's) with similarly themed names. Without spoiling, I'll just say you'll see more similarities emerge. For a while they were keeping the main series and Equestria Girls somewhat separated (EQG can reference main series but nobody in main series talks about events in EQG), so Starlight basically ended up as main series version of Sunset.
