I grew up on the west coast and moved to Ontario for the beginning of the school year. I was genuinely concerned about how much the power lines buzzed in the summer. I seriously thought, that’s just the sound power lines make when it’s hot. Didn’t know what a cicada was until the next summer and it started coming back, but slowly.

We have cicadas literally every year. What’s with people saying every 13 or 17 years or whatever? I understand they live in the ground until they are teenager mah bro but there is still a crop of them every year.
@TheVaporEyes23 күн бұрын
There's regular cicadas that come every year, but then there are also periodic cicadas that come every 17 or 13 years, depending on the brood. We had some when I was a teenager and they literally covered the sidewalks there were so many. It's way more than normal years! Not every place has the 17/13 years (there are maps online).
