Ray, FYI, an electric fuel pump can be bench tested by submerging it in a bucket of water and connecting 12 volts to it. You get to watch it squirt water in the bucket, or maybe it won't. Or maybe it'll run really slow. I did it once and it started running fast, but then gradually slowed down until it stopped.

When I got my ‘69 Charger, it developed a fuel leak under the passenger rocker within a month of owning it. I removed the whole fuel line and was shocked to see about 6 patches. They would develop a leak, cut a tiny piece out, then clamp a rubber fuel line over the cut to rejoin. Since then I marvel at the BS gear heads have done to the muscle cars I buy. I see cut corners on fuel lines, brake lines, exhaust and wiring. But spare no expense on putting gaudy crap all over the engine.

I had to laugh at you two struggling with that gas line, brought to mind a certain movie with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels! But on a serious note, by vaporizing the spilled gas with high pressure air inside of a shop, you're creating a thermobaric bomb, any point of ignition would be devastating, very dangerous! Use an absorbent material, take it outside and allow it to air evaporate. Stay safe!!.

I have a theory on why most of the time the tank is full when there is a problem with fuel delivery... people start to think about it and diagnose the problem, or somebody they know gives them the tip etc.... so maybe they think the fuel meter is broken and so they fill up trying to see if it remedies the problem of running poor because they think it's running on vapors.

I almost couldn't watch this. Your lack of planning might one day catch up with you. There was a bit more than a few tablespoons of gas on the floor, and using 'a rubber hammer' is only half the 'steel on steel' part of the spark equation --- some might say a brass knock-off rod would have been a better idea. And I get it about those guys not calling you when your order was cancelled and leaving you hung out to dry, but then saying 'maybe my standards are too high' left me chuckling ---- you are currently trying to bring junk back from the grave --- well, I take it back, a person with low standards would only work on puff-ball cars, you stretch all the time.... and I HAVE learned a lot from you.

Hello Ray and Troy, I have a 5.4 three valve in a 2007 Ford and every second oil change I do I put in one litre or about a quart of diesel fuel in and let it idle 5 minutes, then drop the oil, put in a new filter and the internals stay very clean. The car has 330,000 kilometres on it now and it still goes well. Thanks for the video, you guys make a good team. Watching from down under.😁👍👍🇦🇺

Nice video. I know that u know that there is a tool to remove that hated tank ring. It does make life a lot easier. And I know that u know instead of screwdriver, 1/4 inch socket, forgot the size, so u don’t slip and hurt yourself or put an unwanted hole in something. And a tiny bit of grease also added to the hated ring will easily slide over the locking tabs. Gas is not your friend but grease, all forms, are your best buddies. Happy u solved fuel problem. Jeeps ain’t what they used to be. Like the way the shop is turning out, have u thought of an alignment machine, expensive. Troy, good gentleman, too bad he has to put up with your horrible jokes. The way things are going before u actually finish the shop I think u should start looking for a bigger place, more mechanics, and maybe closer to home, just an idea.

Um, by blow-gunning liquid gas, aren't you putting a ton of fuel vapor in the air, all at once? Given that it's the vapor that goes boom, not the liquid, seems counter-productive. Granted, plenty of ventilation in that garage, but I've watched enough USCSB videos to respect flammable vapors.

Ray, I agree with Heinrich below that you are not only entertaining but are a damn good man mentoring Troy. He seems to be a good kid. I'm 65 years old, a hobby wrenchman with my 67 Pontiac and enjoy your shows. Keep on wrenching!

Those inline 6 engines were pretty stout. Hard to blow up, we had a grand Cherokee with a 4.0 and never had engine failures. Shame FIAT Chrysler got rid of them for the less reliable v-6

Less reliable? The 3.6 is a great engine. 190k miles on mine and runs great.

Just for science, I was able to successfully like the video with my nose. Unfortunately, I had already liked it, and I crossed my eyes, trying to re-like it! Lol. God bless.
