No Rise or Wait Spoon Rolls
( out of Kay Robertson's cookbook)
1 Tbls yeast
2 cups warm water
1 stick of butter
1/4 c sugar r
1 egg
4 cups self rising flour
1/2 yp 1 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 400°
Assemble per video instructions
Spoon Batter into prepared muffin tin
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes

I have made a similar version of this batter/dough for years - it's very quick and versatile. Sometimes I add extra flour, pat out the dough, cut with a biscuit cutter and let them rise a bit in a cast iron skillet. I will definitely give this variation a try. If it's Miss Kay's recipe, it's got to be good!

Just made a batch of these rolls to take with dinner for a friend who had surgery two days ago. The recipe was so quick and easy. They are delicious. I plan to make them again for a neighbor who had hip surgery a week ago. She should be home next week. The menus will be the same: beef roulade, mushroom/onion gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon and the rolls.

That was REALLY cool instead of ending the video you went out to the field to find Bryant so he could taste the bread! Plus, all of us city dwellers got a glimpse of one beautiful hay field being harvested. Wow, Leslie you're right "we never know what we're going to get" That was excellent! Thank you! So funny you mention Mrs. Kay of Duck Dynasty. I watch Phil, Jase and Allen Robertson on their "Unashamed" Bible study podcast on You Tube. They also have other family members and guest from time to time. Phil had alligators in his front yard recently. Lol only the Robertsons. You need to look them up. Mrs. Kay and wives have been on there also. I have watched some of the Duck Dynasty episodes on You Tube..hilarious. I was born and raised in Shreveport LA and lived in Monroe LA when I was 19 & 20 so I can relate to what the episodes are about. My dad loved going duck hunting. But I have never eaten duck because they always cooked them at the camp for all the men and sons. That roll recipe looks easy enough for me haha. I hope to try it out this week.

One of these days I can get back to making some delicious bread recipes. Though I won’t be able to eat much of it. Those look so delicious! I can only imagine how they smelled! If you can find a 1970 or a little older Betty Crocker Cookbook there's a hot roll recipe that's no knead. It's very good, but you do let it rise in the muffin cups before baking.

This does seem like an easy recipe ! A mixture between a yeast roll and a biscuit.... how unique. Sounds worth trying. I love that you couldn't leave Bryant out of the video and took him a couple and a snack ! That's so sweet. And he definitely looked and sounded like he loved them ! I have made it to maintenance with low carb. I grew up with big gardens and , of course, fresh corn. I decided I could not go a summer without some corn so I have had some. One ear x three meals . Only had salad with it. No weight gain because of it.

Leslie, you and Bryant are the epitome of what a true loving marriage is all about. Thanks for this recipe, I have Mrs Kay’s cookbook, this made me what to dig it out and try more of her recipes. I too am praying for all those effected by the flooding in Kentucky. It breaks my heart to learn of so many deaths.

A hi Leslie big biscuits and rolls for are good I'm a diabetic and I'm not supposed to do anything but I just had two chocolate chip muffins with milk I'm treating myself once a week as I'm doing very well my sugar level is normal even though I'm supposed to be a diabetic you have a good day now

These are delicious rolls. I have made this same recipe. Not sure where I got it. The recipe noted that you could store unused batter in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 1 week. I did that and it was just as good a day or two later. I've also used your recipe for yeast rolls that require the rise time. Delicious!!

Those look really good. I love bread! Bread is my weakness and I didn’t eat any when I was losing weight but now that I’ve been maintaining for 2 yrs I’ll eat it occasionally by making muffins/biscuits. I haven’t bought a loaf of bread or muffins since 2019 because it’s just to tempting for me to just eat it all too fast then feel sick.

I will definitely try out this quick recipe. The roll with butter on it made my mouth water. I wonder how they would turn out if I added some shredded cheese and chives for a savory biscuit/roll hybrid. I know you had some problems with your original new stove and that the company replaced it for you. I would love to hear how the replacement is working for you now.

Being elderly & sick I can't stand & cook long so I need quick recipes. You answered my prayer for one. By the way I live in East TN. Have lots of family around Winston Salem. When you have spaghetti do you eat the spaghetti but no noodles those rolls look yummy . Too much water in some places not enough in others the hay looks good is that Timothy hay or alfalfa?

I wanted to ask you is your oven gas or electric. I just got a new gas stove and my oven is gas. I'm having trouble with the heating consistency of it. If it calls forv350 I have to heat it at 340 or it gurns everything. Plus one side seems like it's hotter than the other side. Because one side gets browner than the other.
