Truth , drake leaning into singing is surprising when his rapping sets him apart dramatically. His points are accurately orated. His story telling is compelling. His tone complements the argumentative venting style of rap he often uses. He’s mastered many nuances of an art form that can seem one dimensional.

This is a really thought-provoking comment, I never thought of Drake's style as "argumentative venting rap" but it's an extremely accurate description of his bar work. And I agree wholeheartedly regarding his singing turn, these recent singing records are, quite frankly, awful, not to mention completely uninteresting to his rap fans. Worse still, when I listened to his verse on "Churchill Downs" with Jack Harlow I was even more upset, as it's clear Drake hasn't REMOTELY lost a step. I mean he completely bodied Jack on the track & that's saying a lot as Harlow REALLY came with a serious verse but Drake was just deep in his bag. I just hope Drake decides he wants to get back to his roots & the area of music where he's truly peerless....rap. Back to his NWTS, IYRTITL, Views & even Scorpion type stuff.

As a drummer who grew up on punk rock and then eventually fell in love with dance music and then rap, Drake actually is a far better potential drummer than 90% of the population. Hearing the space between a beat is what let’s you groove and catch a pocket. But yeah… actually keeping time is a very important part. Work on that hi-hat drake.

What’s crazy is that there is elements of Drake and his sound that no one has been able to replicate; Nobody can format bars and cadence in the way that he does it. I don’t listen to a TON of Drake, but I listen to a loooooot of hip hop alllll day long obsessively and I can emulate some rappers, even the great Rakim. But the artists that I’ve had the toughest time emulating… Baatin from Slum Village Tupac Nas Drake There raps honestly sound closer to conversation. They’re not repetitive in any certain cadences. Like Pac stretching his words out (What if I’m wroooooonnnngg a trick to keep me on and on) or how Nas and Drake just literally talk through a track… They don’t necessarily focus on the Rhyming element more than just getting out what they really feel on a track. In any case, Drake is a different cat. I don’t listen to him a lot, but he definitely put together a format and formula overall that works for him.

@@persona8991 you just wanted to shit on drake in that last part. Most people prefer conversational raps, and most listeners don’t care about rhymes. People care about what’s being said, what they can relate to. That’s why drake got so big, his lyrics are him speaking and people feeling it. Think about how many people use his lines to express what they want to say. Honestly it’s annoying, but he’s selling a mindset and people dig it

It’s amazing how everything and everyone around him holds to maintaining his image and making him seem as this “special” man. I respect their loyalty. I still see him as just a man. I say that humbly. Like anytime you watch anything relative to him even funny content from him it always makes him look good, and to the consumers mind leaves you thinking he’s a God. But to me he is still just a man. And that isn’t to undermine his success. It is just to say he’s another ambitious person. He is not unreachable. Like if anything he does all this to inspire the next artist who will be bigger than him.
