Sitting in Ontario lies this fascinating and shocking abandoned home. Owned by an older Italian couple, it was left abandoned in 2015 after the man of the house passed away. There isn't much information about the couple. From what I can tell, the wife passed away before her husband. I couldn't find an obituary for her at all and there is no obituary written for the husband just a death and funeral date which were both in 2015.
While walking around their home I noticed it was decorated nicely with pictures hung on the walls and treasured plates, china, and figurines set up in the cabinet, most likely the wife's doing. What's strange is that there are photos of the husband still left in the home but seemingly none of the wife. The man of the home seems to have been a butcher. The property has multiple outbuildings for raising livestock, butchering meat, and storing it. To this day the fridges still have meat rotting in them. In the basement, there is a jarring station set up where I like to think that the couple spent time together making preserves.
Shockingly the home has deteriorated very quickly since its abandonment in 2015. While the power is still on, the basement has flooded causing some of the worst black mold I've seen to date. Photos from other explorers show this home completely mold free in 2021.
While all I can do is speculate about the couple that lived here, it's sad to see someone's life and possessions left like this to rot away

Due to the remaining pictures of the husband, I’m led to believe the husband passed first. She may still be living in assisted care somewhere. Her clothing cleared out quickly from the dressers.

Clearly, this was a well loved home up until the end. Power was still on, because the couple had a retirement income which the utilities were on auto-pay, and the funding source never knew of their deaths, more than likely. There clearly was a medical emergency involving the last occupant, likely resulting the stove being left on, and last meal's dishes unwashed. Aside from the mold, it was a bit comforting to see there was no evidence of mental distress. There was a loving atmosphere in that home. Very sad that no family or close friends were around to close out the house. A real shame about the flooding. Thanks for sharing this.

In some ways this is what it was like for me going through my parents house after my dad died. My mom died in 2012. Dad was lonely and declined. Passed dec 31 2021. All his tools and treasures and my mom's as well all packed away. Family photos. The fun times. Weddings. Trips. My art as a child. Breaks your heart.

Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, this is life. We have to do the best we can given the time and various circumstances that are put in our path. I also had to experience similar settings. Dead and decayed corpse stains on the couch. Had to empty a home wearing a respirator. It was worse than what they show in this video, (generally speaking). Being that it was immediate family made the experience surreal. It was such a very sad and cold place from something which was so warm and inviting in the past, a place with lots of people, food, and fun. And despite all those people in the home, years gone by, the only one who would empty it that many years later was me. It's just a reminder that we aren't here forever, and that the manner in which we deal with the loss, something representative of that past childhood experiences permitting us to grow into, hopefully, mature individuals. We are just renting the world for awhile. No one's alone. Sometimes it just seems that way.

I guess it all depends on how you look at it. At an early age I came to realize that we all die and what is coming in terms of my family members dying. I always tried to treat people well while they were alive. So when death came I just did what I knew had to be done and I focused on that. In my life I have seen people treat others like crap while they were alive then they acted all broke up when the person died. I never understood that.

It's sad to see that no one cared. The government is going to get the the property and what's left of the house anyway 1 day. I work in apartments and see this all the time. Family members don't want anyting but the valuables and we are stuck throwing people's memories away. I still have a cat and the residents family pictures. Didn't have the heart to put the cat in the pound and pictures in the trash. Thank you for sharing their story.

It's nit always the government that gets it. Sometimes a farmer in the area buys these places and just farms the land. They leave the house intact because the land around it isn't tillable and it's too much exppense to tear it down.

Regarding electricity, electricity bill could be auto deduction from bank account. About 13 years ago a women was found deceased in her suburban Detroit home over 18 months after she actually died. She had enough money for autopay on mortgage to keep everyone happy and away, until she didn't. The only other scenario I can see is a distant relative is paying bill and not realizing sump quit house quickly goes to the mold. Extra residences require a lot of baby sitting.

I think he may have processed game from hunters. Butcher shops are held to a higher standard. He may even have been an avid hunter himself. A former resident in my house used to process game and we have a walk-in cooler in the back room of our garage. We also have a spring house that has a very sturdy floor and a metal rod like for a closet along one side that has some hooks on it still that looks like they used to hang meat in there. The walls are well insulated also. Sad to see the house in that condition. Maybe a relative inherited it that wasn’t very close to them and is just holding out for a good price to sell it.

@@TheShelltrack someone may have inherited it that isn’t real close to them. Not interested in the momentos of their life but holding on to the property for investment purposes. Evidently they may not have checked on it recently but kept the power on to try and preserve the building as much as possible. My husband died from breathing in mold. Could not see it but the cabin was so heavy you couldn't breathe inside. This house should be blocked off. One tiny little spore gets in your lungs and grows rapidly. Took a week. Everything in there should be disposed of by professionals and torn down. Just walking through there it will get on your clothes. It's sad no family came in before the mold grew. Great piece of land. Love living out like that. Clean out your extra stuff or have a donation place set up to come get your things. Proof you can't take it with you.

So by the look of that Silverado for the time it has been left there the truck wouldn't be that clean, my guess is the family has been using the truck and the sucky part is probably due to the extreme temperature the pipes froze and cracked causing the basement to flood which could cause the family to have to main water turned off But allow the electric to stay on, stay safe and always take precautions. But yeah that Silverado is in way to good of shape to have just been abandoned and would explain why some windows have been left open and when you brought up squaters, i don't think anyone was squatting in there especially without the correct gear. The family probably is aware of the house and it will most likely be cleaned up and demolished after everything of value has been removed. Cool content btw, you earned my sub

What I would do is get a sprayer, and spray all the walls with bleach. Then I would go and wait a day, and every day spray the walls. Also the ceiling, and floor. Next, I would sand the walls 1 room at a time, and clean the floors. Next, put a HEPA air cleaner in each room. After that, I would tear out the flooring in each room, take the lights out, then get the spray paint machine, and just spray the whole house, sub-floor to ceiling with paint. Then after that you just put the floor back in, and put the trim in, and it is about done. The basement would need more work, but it is about the same story there. But I would replace all those electric outlets, and replace all the drywall down there too.

28:31 that box in the corner is called a cryovac machine. It vacuums the air out of a special type of plastic bag that meat would be packed into, this vacuum sealing it for freezer storage.

It's not that hard to hear you.. LS is the trim specification which is the mid-level trim. LT would be top level and WT (work truck) the bottom.

I think they were Italians or of Italian descent. At 20:15, in the bedside table there is a magazine with the cover saying "From the Alps to the Roses" in Italian.

A basement kitchen is a very Italian thing to find. Usually it gets used more than the one upstairs, so guests don’t see a dirty kitchen

I'm glad you wore your mask. 😊 I'm getting vibes of the wife left before her/his/their passing, and he put away all the pics of her. Edit: Near the end, I got a morbid thought. Oh God...

How sad. Do you often feel a sense of sadness or the presence of the family? (Not talking about scary stuff. Just that they're still there because all their stuff is. I can feel it in this tour.) I wonder why no family's come to sort through things, share with family, and give things away. And if the bank owns it, they should allow the family to take what they want, and donate the rest, so they can put it up for auction. Its terrible that they allowed the home to just rot away. Once moisture gets in the roof and walls, it's all over. They were obviously meat farmers. Raised, cut, sold, stock. Note: Its obvious the pipes froze and burst in the basement. And that black mold is dangerous (You need a respirator.). Also, especially knowing that the electrical is on, NEVER walk through the water. It could be charged!
Let's all try it too‼︎#magic#tenge
