I am a birth mother who met my son forty years after I placed him for adoption , It was the best thing that happened to me. He is a wonderful human being, had wonderful parents who raised him.. and I know I did the right thing for my baby.. Good luck with your journey!

My mother was also adopted at 7 days old - she passed away 4 months ago. I know my mother felt discarded throughout her life. She was adopted by the best people ever so she never felt the need to dig into her background. I think she was afraid of being disappointed or upset. I wish you the best, Noel. 🙏🏼

My mom and dad always told me that my birth mother cared enough for me to make sure I went to a loving and caring home. She was very young when she had me and couldn’t provide for me. My birth mothers parents wouldn’t let her keep me anyway. Back then depending on who a child was placed with decided on wether the adoption was open or sealed. I was lucky enough to have an open adoption. At age 18 I could decide or not if I wanted to know who my parents were. In my case because my birth mothers name was the only name on my birth certificate, that’s who I would look for. I found her when I was 30. We are good friends and my adoptive parents are my mom and dad. My mom always told me when the kids teased me about being adopted just to remember that I was special because I was “chosen”. 😊 ❤

@emmamartin2057narcissistic people usually have a golden child and a scapegoat child. Sounds like your mum was the scapegoat. I was the scapegoat in my family and it’s really affected me.

I’m adopted & I chose to dig deep from 17 (I’m now 25). I found & met my biological family , found out what I needed & I now have nothing to do with them (my choice due to circumstances). Being adopted is a tough thing to deal with emotionally & with all that’s included. It’s hard as there’s this version of you that’s existed but then in a way hasn’t. You’ve got to do what’s right for you Noel & your family. I hope you find ease & comfort with this journey. Take care of yourself ❤️

I have not even finished watching this but had to pause to collect myself. I'm sooooo happy that you're searching and I'm hopeful that you'll find many biological family members. I'm positive that your mum has thought of you every single day all these years & is hoping that you'll find her! I have many family members who have been adopted and know of some close friends who have had to give their kids up for adoption. Every situation is different and unique but I feel that anyone who can give their child up for adoption is an absolute hero and selfless. It's the most courageous act EVER. Think how you feel about your kids & your mum had to sacrifice time with you to give you what she couldn't. She thought of you and only you, not herself. It's sooooo healthy that you're exploring this and processing so many feelings❤ I know people who have found their birth mum and the mum says she needs time, no one in the family knew, etc etc. Eventually, the mums usually come around. It might be a roller coaster, this new adventure you're embarking on, but it'll be worth it all, I'm positive! Sending prayers and hugs from Saskatchewan 🇨🇦 🍁

Times were very different 52 years ago. It might be that with your birthmother being very young she may have not had any support to keep you. She could have spent all these years hoping and praying for you to be in contact. You can also put your name into the Birth Contact Register in the hope she has done the same. Your adoptive parents did well in bringing you up to be such a loving and kind husband and father. Wishing you well.

Noel you have a wonderful soul and a kind ,loving heart. You are a credit to your adoptive parents who took you at 10 days old. My middle son was in hospital in intensive care for weeks at the same time my elder son was in hospital with kidney failure aged 41/2. Your parents had you safe at home long before I had my new born baby who ended up with hydrocephalus. My sons are 45 and 39 this year over 6 2”. I have experienced this first hand, 2 years ago I got a message from a half bother we knew nothing about. We met shortly after that. His adopted father came, our father passed away (our father did not know about him). His dad came with him. We all (2 sisters and a brother) claim our dad, too. Noel it sounds like your dad is awesome! You are very blessed.

Ah Noel, I’m also an adoptee and didn’t want to upset my adoptive Mum by going forward with searches. I was also adopted as a new born and brought up in lovely circumstances and consider myself lucky. But if you want to know more, you should find out because as time passes and people pass, you may lose access to the info that ultimately makes you - ‘you’. Good luck!

As humans most of us want to know where we came from, our natural background, our roots and ancestry. It's natural for Noel to want to know more. Some adoptive children do some, like Sue, don't as it can open up a can of worms that may not be easy to bare. Whatever happens you're both amazing parents and your children are a credit to you both. Good luck to you in your search Noel, I wish you all the best.

Noel ...the sweetest man ..having been adopted into a wonderful family at birth myself ..I feel this deeply. I found my birth family and that was important for me . I never thought it had affected me ..I found out differently through my therapist that there are 2 things that he knows when he comes across personalities like mine (people pleasing to the extreme and feeling like I need to earn people to like me ) that they were either sexually abused or adopted. I fell on the adoption side . I thought it was dumb until maybe a year later as we progressed. I know now that my therapist knows what he was talking about after 35 years of experience . Point being, my heart is with Noel on his journey .

It's okay to not want to talk about your adoption Noel. I don't think this should have been on national TV. That is your private business. I gave a baby boy up for adoption. My mom died when I was 10 yrs old. I had a baby as a young teen and did not have the support of a family to help me and my sister and dad made me give my baby up. That is a wonderful thing you had super parents to adopt you and love you and raise you. I think that's what has made you be such a great father that you are today!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

My Cousin was adopted, vey hard thing to do look for biological parents especially respecting Mum and Dad. Just know Sue and Noel you have the Love of your Family and your Dad Noel, just go with the flow with regards to your Biological Mum. Sometimes things turn out great other times Disappointing , just know how much your Current Family Love and adore you both and that sometimes your longed for and chosen and that often the love can be greater and more profound because of being longed for. Good luck Both, hope things work out well for you both, big hugs. It takes a lot of courage for you both and often those who had to give up to.

Sending love and good wishes that you get the information that you are looking for. I know that you adore your Dad and he you. That will never change. You have all of your memories with him as your Dad. I know that you are very thankful for that. It takes special people to adopt and you were blessed!!! It also can take special people to give up for adoption. There are so many different outcomes. I hope that yours is a good one, but your Dad will always be your dad!! I know the wish of knowing medical history. I recently found my bio mother and she has had some medical issues that are rare and should have been checked on me. Know that I know that I have them, the doctors can treat me better knowing them too! If nothing else, the families medical histories would be good to have for you and your kids. Best of Luck and allow yourself to let down, at least with Sue. Cheers!

You can be absolutely sure that your birth mother thought about you --or is still thinking of you!--every day of her life. The decision to place a child for adoption is such a hard one, and comes from the mother wanting her child to have a good life. Fifty odd years ago, when you were born, being an unmarried single mum was not the norm and carried a huge stigma. Your birth parents may have been teenagers who did not receive the support you and Sue received as young parents... so they made what they believed to be the best choice to give you life without bringing condemnation and stigma upon themselves. It was meant to be a win-win situation, and for the most part it has been! But the sadness of having placed a baby for adoption will not have gone away for your birth mother. I hope you do meet your biological family! Doing so in NO WAY minimizes the love you have for the parents who raised you and whom you love so much! But getting answers and knowing your history is your birthright. I wish you the best of luck on this journey!

There is a lot of emotions and unaswered questions with adoption. You don't know why you are given up for adoptionand a lot of unanswered questions. You don't want to be rejected by you biological parents. Any man can be a sperm donor but it takes a man to step up and raise you as his own. You don't want to leave it to long and have regrets that you never get to meet them.
