I do both SCHD and DGRO, personally think DGRO will outperform long term but I’m splitting the difference anyway. For growth I’m doing DGRW, what made you choose VUG over DGRW? I’m truly curious. I’ve backed off on growth because things seem due for a pullback and stopped VOO a while back since long term returns don’t seem as promising as SCHD DGRO DGRW.

SCHG is a very close second for me for growth. I like the assets under management and holdings slightly more for VUG but they both have a low expense ratio and very diversified so can’t go wrong with either

@@NolanGouveia With my current age of early/mid 40's, I think my risk tolerance isa bit higher than someone in your 50's looking towards retirement. Running some projection analysis, it looks appropriate for where I'm at. In a few years, it may turn into a more balanced thirds or even a 4th ETF (VV) to hedge against any recessions in the future as I head towards retirement.

True, most people will have sold out of them closer to retirement age and bought in to more value or even bonds by that point to preserve the wealth

But When you retire your not gonna spend your entire holding in a week are you ? So say you have build up 300 k in your etf funds So if the market happens to be down when you retire at 60 years old for example You withdraw 30k leaving 270k in your etf to make some gains

@@boyasaka Not advisable. You don't know when the market will take a down turn, how low it will go, and for how long. That 300K could be 200k in a matter of weeks, if not days. You would be selling shares at a loss, leaving fewer shares for the recovery. Better to have 2-3 years of savings not in the market for expenses, and wait for the market to recover. I have seen clients on both sides during 2007-2010. Some came out fine, others were forced back to work.

I was debating the same. Right now I have VOO, but might switch it over to SWPPX because I’m using Schwab. They are both S&P 500 indexes so they will yield virtually the same returns. I might switch for my Roth because I can automate my investments with a mutual fund each month.

Invest 50% in VGT, 50% in SCHD and every paycheck add more regardless of the market direction. In 25-35 years you’ll be very wealthy and you would have outperformed VOO (which is the S&P 500). Very simple, very little overlap, actually diversified without adding anything like VXUS or Bonds which only weigh you down over time. If you have more than 20 years in the market it’s idiotic to add that

Do you ever wonder that you might be performance chasing and misleading people on having a diversified portfolio? Your portfolio is two indices with higher valuations rather than improved fundamentals and a dividend paying kick in the balls fund that is more correlated to stocks than treasuries would be.

Schd has a better screening process that why it has outperformed VYM . Very likely if we have a repeat of the 2000's next decade SCHD should also outperform VOO/VTI too

get QQQM instead its expense ratio is 0.15 than QQQ being 0.20 And also they both are tracking the same thing so the numbers for both are the basically the same.

QQQ is so close with VUG and I do hold more QQQ than VUG at the moment, but moving forward I’ll be investing more in VUG mostly because of that expense ratio
