Fun fact: Brian May, the lead guitarist for Queen plays his guitar with a coin and always has. Also made that guitar by hand with his dad from a 100 year old fireplace mantle when he was like 16. It's the only guitar he's ever used for a song or show really. Most likely the most valuable guitar in the world. DATS TUFF!

But meeting so many new and different people in college that liked all different kinds of music I started liking rap, rock, grunge, and metal. Now I listen to them all and probably listen to country the least. I'm glad I listen to all of them because there's so many great artists and singers in different genres of music. and the music I play on the guitar and sing is grunge now. lol. That he was, will never be another showman like him either. God definitely gave us this man, he touched so many lives across so many genres....you couldn't really categorize them because they were so talented they played everything to reach everybody!! I believe that's why they had such a fan base that they did, they left no one out when creating, and then showed them so much love at all their concerts, their fans were everything to them and it showed. The only other entertainer I think could even come in the same ball park as Freddie as far as showman ship, was MJ, but he still lacked the fan connection, his passion was there in his dancing, but he didn't interact with them the way Freddie did and I think that's what keeps Freddie above the bar on him just a bit.

Goolash They are neck and neck to me, but Freddie was greater manipulator of his voice. He could switch from any genre to another and still make it feel at home. He orchestrated his vocals in the studio amazingly (the opening to this song was all Freddie). There can be an argument for who's a better frontman, but to me, Queen were the staple arena rock band. They made many iconic songs specifically for the crowd to join in. Freddie has this connection with the audience that's strong enough to have gained the appreciation of the entire Live Aid stadium, despite who they came for.

1st part: a man has commmited homicide and will be put to death, so he's saying goodbye to his crying mother, whose whipping is represented by the guitar solo. 2nd: "I see a little silhouette..." the man is at the Gates of Hell (Thunderbolt and Lightning... )but he's still fighting, along with his mother's prayers for salvation: "I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me / He's just a poor boy from a poor family, spare his life from this monstruosity" 3rd: "Bismillah!" means "In the Name of God", which marks the entry of angels and begins the battle for this poor soul: "We will not let you go / Let him go! Bismillah!..." 4th: "So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye?" The demons are angry and losing, and he's "just gonna get outta here". Angels win the battle and the man is forgiven.

My understanding of the song is a bit different, but I'll admit I might be wrong. I understood the first part the way you did. The second part, "I see a little silhouetto of a man..." I always understood to be the character's trial, where the town/community is rallying around him, "spare him his life from this monstrosity," and the court saying, "no, we will not let him go" and arguing with the community. The third part, "so you think you can stone me and spit in my eye," is the character raging at the court for refusing to hear his argument, that his crime was justified, and instead just condemning him to death, without even considering evidence, just because he's a poor and undesirable citizen (as opposed to the rich and influential members of the court.) And the final part, "nothing really matters," is the character being led to the gallows, having finally accepted his unjust fate.

See I always took the Bismillah and “spare him his life from this monstrosity” and “will you let me go”’ parts as the jury deliberating about whether to send him to the chair or not. I suppose the song is open to all sorts of interpretation, interesting take on the song I’d never considered though!

This song was written about deciding to come out as a gay man. Freddy killed his hetero persona....

This song is pure genius in every way. You know this because every single magazine on earth and critic hated it originally. It took decades for it to catch-up to our ears and minds. That shows the absolute brilliance of Freddy Mercury

That's tough😁😁😁...Tbh,Whenever someone say shit about Freddie Mercury, and if it's not facts, they get a fist point from me,then I asked, say that again,if they do,fist on the nose.Woke up with a nose plastered at the back of their heads...if a person really loves music, they gotta atleast praise his voice.Wish I have a voice-box thats a mix of Freddie Mercury's voice and Chester Bennington's voice...

I’m two years late, but as of this video, you’ve officially been blessed by the magic flash of lightning that was Freddie Mercury. I used to turn this song off, too, until I realized exactly who he and Queen were and what this song was to him. It was a friggin master class in everything he’d ever learned over the course of his career as a vocalist and musician. It’s a singularly genius composition, crossing styles, octaves, and tempos so effortlessly...mens went from belting out a ballad to legit opera to face-smashing rock anthem in the space of seven minutes. They were a definitional phenomenon for the music industry.
