Keep in mind when RM is described as leader its as in the captain of a sports team. He facilitates communication between the band and the company, leads in interviews (esp. English ones) and encourages and almost mentors them. Its not a lead as in front man as we are used to.

Hello❣️Silver Army here, coined because I'm 80 👵🏼 with white hair 🤣 in 2013 I discovered Kpop and was excited for the newness of it and so I delved into most all the groups but then suddenly in early 2014 I happened on a BTS MV and since then became a proud army. They have given me an extra boost to my life and I eagerly look forward to their ongoing career once they all return from the military . I specifically love watching the reaction videos because they mirror mine when I went down the rabbit hole . So enjoy and don't let anyone deter you from your journey to knowing BTS❣️ 🫶 💜

I love how still relevant and good their old stuff is. It just shows how they always cared about making good music! Yoongi recently said jokingly that they were just rebelling back then but honestly the message is still relevant and inspiring. "Don't let others dictate your life and work hard to achieve your dreams instead of choosing what is easy because people are pushing you that way" Of course, they matured and their concept and delivery changed but their message is still the same 💜

Another comment. The group started as a hip hop group so the rappers were more of a focus earlier on. It took a little for V, Jin and Jimin to get more focus. V’s growl and deep voice. This song was an indictment of the focus of adults on school and graduating to get a govt job. They are telling you to ignore it and go for your dreams. Enormous pressure on teenagers in Korea to get good grades, study crazy hours etc. they have the highest suicide rate for young people. With BTS it’s never simple lyrics.

"No more dreams" is aimed at teenagers struggling with the rigidity of the South Korean school system and the lack of future prospects. Like many BTS's songs, has a motivational nature and invites them to follow their dreams, rather than fall victim to society's expectations, which are criticized and ridiculed with puns and sarcasm. It's great!

ohh yes, they did they staff from begining: "No more dream" Produced by Pdogg Written by Pdogg, “hitman”bang, Rap Monster, SUGA, j-hope, Supreme Boi, Jung Kook Pdogg is producer that forked with them from day one and still is there witgh them, and you will see him in more then half BTS songs, bc he is usually head producer, but memeber also helped with melodies, etc. hitman Bang is the CEO that recruted members and started band, he is producer and song writer Supreme boi was trainee under BigHit that maybe would be in BTS but didn't end as part of group, end lineup, but stayed as producer in company, and helped with some songs from then on. At the begining there was also Slow rabbit, producer, that stayed with them and been there from day one. he is in a lot of songs too.

It's often said in the fandom that you find BTS when you need them the most. And it was like this for me too. I became an Army back in 2021. When the covid pandemic was really bad. I was going through a really difficult time. My dad was in the hospital because of covid. And the only thing bringing comfort for me back them was their song, Life goes on.

I'm a 63 year old ARMY. I have been with BTS since Debut. Yes, the old music holds a special place in my heart. God's ARMY, the US ARMY, and BTS ARMY.

I’m a 62 year old old Army since the pandemic lockdown of 2020. I probably would not have found the otherwise. I love their early music, particularly their B sides. Besides their obvious talents, I find them highly entertaining, genuine, funny, wholesome, humble… to me these traits were so refreshing in artists in general. Like everyone, I look forward to what they’ll do once their military commitments are over. I hope that part of their lives includes some normality in their lives (family time, privacy, and choice to do what they want). Thanks for your genuine reactions.

I just want to put this out here, Yoongi (Suga) once said, and I quote, " Don't worry if you haven't been with us since day one, the day you found BTS, is the day we debuted for you". so don't worry about just finding them, you can literally watch their entire beginning and follow their journey. And we ARMY's always say that BTS has a habit of finding you when you need it the most. They did exactly that with me. I was in a dark place in 2020 when I stumbled upon them by accident, and it changed my life, no exaggerating, it really did. I love how genuine you are! Never change! And thank you for giving them a chance! I think it's safe to say that you are officially Baby ARMY :3 Borahae! 💜

They started off as a HIP HOP focused group with the Rapline. This is why the vocal line did the chorus. SK felt that they were "doing too much" as IDOLs. Also, their HARD personal was created by BangPD and not who they were. You start to see them in I NEED U.

My very first BTS song was this very same song 😊 I was going through a dark time in my life (I was friendless, I was unemployed, almost homeless, I was in need of major life saving surgery and deeply depressed), and had decided I just wanted it all to end. I was already a fan of Kpop back then and I wanted to go out with my favourite song at the time and, right when I was closing the browser, I accidentally clicked on a new video by a newly debuted group (they had debuted a month prior so this was in July 2013). I had heard of BTS before and after their debut but wasn't really interested at the time. But then I heard this song. There were no subtitles back then but what I could understand intrigued me so much that I spent the rest of the day researching the lyrics, the members, watching their pre-debut vlogs. I basically forgot what I was going to do that day and kept thinking of the lyrics "What are your dreams?" It was at that moment where I found the strength to turn my life around (after seeing these boys the same age as me - I have the same age as Suga - working so hard to make their dreams a reality) BTS save my life...and all this to say that early BTS and the songs from those early years have a special place in my heart 💜 I love all their songs but if I had to choose between listening to early BTS or newer BTS, I will always chose earlier BTS 😁 I have a recommendation...two actually! Or maybe 3 😅 "Just One Day", "Danger" and "For You". They all have MVs. "Danger" has 2 different versions (one the regular version and the other the Mo-Blues Mix featuring an Australian artist) and "For You" is a Japanese song (with 2 MVs: the normal one with the story of the video and another just the choreography). Sry for the long comment 😅

My BTS journey started in Jan 2022, but I didn’t become army until Oct 2022. It took all those months because I just kept thinking “they’re just a poppy boy band like every other poppy boyband”. And then they would surprise me with something, so I kept watching, but still not converted. 9 months of this repeating and I finally gave in and thought “they’re not your average poppy boyband”. And I’ve been hooked since. Have tried to give other groups the same chance, but nothing stuck.

I love BTS’s older music. The way I always introduce early BTS to people is, yes, their stylists at the time have some hair and fashion crimes to answer for 😅 but the music and performances were LIT from day one. They were already writing their own stuff at this time and it stood out for its sincerity and the way it addressed genuine issues facing young people in the lyrics. And they were absolute beasts from a dance and performance standpoint in a way that is not common with rookie kpop groups (I especially love you pointing out the choreo move where they revealed a different member with each line, it’s one of my all-time favorites). Their music has continuously evolved creatively and stylistically for their entire career but in my opinion it’s always been top tier and they have a pretty much no-skip discography. Would love to see full album reactions!

Outside of BTS, my musical tastes are very diverse, so I really appreciate how they can lean into so many different genres and make music that is authentic to that genre and to BTS. I would love if you did full album discography reactions. You won't be disappointed. Also, Baby Bangtan came out of the box with so much swagger and heart. From the beginning you could see that each member was giving 100% to the concept and music. They have never lost that drive, not just to succeed, but to create amazing music and art. I think you'll love hearing and seeing their growth as much I did!

I'm a fan since Lollapalooza, about a year & 9 months. Because I'm retired and was a very lonely senior, I have watched all day every day. I had never heard rap or hip-hop, love early BTS now. Glad you're getting into it and starting to learn history, growth, and development. This song is calling out the youth of Korea. The school system is harsh, their futures (depending on test scores) could be dismal or boring. BTS says - are you going to settle for that? Don't you have dreams? Is it only what parents and society say? This was very radical for a debut. They ended up with three albums in the School Trilogy, then moved on. This video is incredibly well-done, because they had no money. The clothes were the cheapest they could find. The set is a warehouse with props. I don't how BigHit managed. When they found out they'd be on stage, they immediately released this pre-prepared video - same day! Jimin's high voice hadn't been recognized yet, the whole vocal line was growling in accordance with hip-hop. If you watch a few early ones you'll see their "real" voices emerge. And Jimin was horribly shy about lifting his shirt up! Suga and RM wrote this, they were experienced rappers before. They also got credits for production, which is Suga's talent.

I started listening to kpop back in 2016. A friend of mine asked me if I liked BTS, and I said yes, even though I hadn't really heard their music yet. This is just before Fake Love came out. So i started listening to their music. The first song I heard was Blood, Sweat and Tears. I was hooked. That was the end of 2016. It took me years trying to catch up on all of their songs and going down the rabbit hole. Still love them to this day.

the line SUGA mentioned, “I wanna big house, big cars and big rings” evolved through time and is one of the constant lyric that SUGA kept coming back to. you’ll see how he feels about it in diff points in time when you do the album reviews. i’m a 2021 ARMY so I saw them 1st during Dynamite, Butter, PTD era, but when i rewatched old content i loved them just as much if not more.. i was into Linkin Park, MCR and other bands so i didnt have a hard time with debut Bangtan. plus they really did amazing on the get go for me..

The man who put together BTS, Bang Si-hyuk, was known as "hitman bang" years before BTS because he was a composer/writer/producer known for making hit songs for K-pop groups to sing. When he decided to form his own company in 2005, he called it Big Hit Entertainment, since he wanted to make groups that would "hit it big" in the industry. BTS's name is Bangtan (bulletproof) Sonyeondan (boyscouts), so although "Bangtan" wasn't derived from the name Bang Si-hyuk, it nevertheless calls to mind Mr. Bang, their founder.

The boys were DEFINITELY monster rookies, they had IT from the absolute beginning. At the time, I may not have gotten into BTS based on the older stuff, I came in a little meh when it came to rap, around 2021 but rap line became my exception because they are so insanely talented. I grew to love their rap styles individually and together which made me want to go back

Hi, yes, they were good from the beginning and RM and Suga were writing their songs even back then. I only wish I'd discovered them earlier, but only came across them in October 2022 when I watched their Busan concert on KZfaq and that was me hooked at age 61 🤣

I'm 52 old ARMY from Poland :) I got into K-pop in the fall of 2019, and my first love was Chanyeol and EXO. Initially, out of stubbornness (because everyone was recommending it), I ignored BTS for a few weeks. However, "Make It Right" and "Run BTS" pulled me into the rabbit hole in just one second. They're so talented, charming, and have a sincerity that's irresistible :) Similarly, being a Carat (Seventeen's fandom) has a hold on me, but K-pop fills about 95% of my playlists: Stray Kids, Ateez, Exo, Enhypen, TXT, BIBI, NCT, Jennie, DPR Ian and his crew, B.I., The Rose, Xdinary Heroes and many more I hope you find time for other groups and solo artists too.

BTS wasn't able to get a debut slot for months, because they weren't one of the Big Three record labels and couldn't pay off hosts. They were so stressed out. Another group backed out at the last minute, and the rest is history!

I am an 52 year old ARMY since Oktober 2021. BTS are my top fav music artists and I listen to them every day and love other people reacting to them and fall in love with their music. They are not the only artists I love to listen to. I have a very eclectic taste in music and only don’t like Gangsta rap ( talking down to women, idolizing crimes, etc. ) or 80’s and 90’s Housemusic ( that is not music, just a droning beat). Another artist I want to point out to you to listen to is Dimash Kudaibergen [also Qudaibergen] an singer from Kazakhstan. He is known for his wide vocal range. He has sung songs in many different languages (13 up till now). Try songs lije Screamer, Opera 2, Ikanaide, Autumn leaves, etc.

Yes they were writing their songs, with in house help. JK was only 15 when this was made, being the main vocalist was a responsibility of preparing/singing the guides and also he recorded most of the choruses and extra harmonies. All the vocalists share the singing.

They honestly have an outstanding discography, right from the beginning up to now! I truly enjoy every era and every album of BTS. My favorite stuff of theirs is probably from around 2014-2015 - from about Skool Luv Affair through the end of HYYH era (also known as The Most Beautiful Moment in Life). My top 3 BTS songs are from that time period! All of the MV/title tracks are fantastic but they have some amazing B-sides, too. You pretty much can't go wrong listening to any of their stuff. I've only been an Army since 2020 but I listen to their older stuff all the time. Hope you continue to enjoy their journey!

BTS has said in different interviews that Jimin is one of the most shy members except when he is on stage; its like he becomes a completely different person. That move that JK and Jimin did was really difficult for them to practice. You should definitely check out the dance practice of this. This was their debut song. Suga and RM were underground rappers hence the flow they have.

In idol groups, leader is a managerial position. It has very little to do with being a frontman. Leaders are responsible for other members being on time, prepared and motivated for everything on their schedule, the group as a whole and individual members keeping up morale and understanding and fulfilling their roles, etc. If corporate wants the band to do or change something, they communicate it to the leader who is than responsible for it being done, and vice versa, if anyone in the band has some needs or issues with the corporate etc., it's the leader's job to sort it out. If anyone in the band makes a mistake, the leader is considered responsible and will be taken to task. With the caveat that the society in Korea is highly hierarchical, best analogy I can think of is military, like a platoon commander. Essentially, all members are equal artistically, but in business terms leader has additional duties and responsibilities. Now, keep in mind this is not actually converted into larger profits or additional pay, in K-pop, they just saddle one of the teens with all this unpaid work and mostly don't even teach them how to do it. The industry is basically my dad teaching me to swim: throw 'em in the water and have them figure it out. Sometimes, like with BTS, it works out because the "corporate" was one dude invested in their success and Namjoon has high EQ to complement his high IQ. But there are so many examples where idol leaders were tyrannical or the opposite, couldn't control the rogue members and the public eviscerated them. K-netizens are brutal. Overall, leader is a daunting, thankless job and ARMY is very grateful to Namjoon for being our president for all these years without complaining even once.

I am 65. I had heard of BTS for a while but dismissed them as some stupid boy band which held no interest for me. THEN I saw them in a Galaxy phone commercial and was soooo intrigued by their looks and the song in the commercial. It was "Life Goes On" but I didn't know that then. (This was 2020.) I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to find the song and slipping down the BTS rabbit hole. I have never looked back. My husband and adult children still don't get it. They still think of BTS as some fluffy boy band because thy won't take the time to listen to their music and watch their vids. But I did get my adult stepson to take me to Suga's D-Day concert movie for my birthday last month. He looked around and said. "You must be the oldest person here." I said, "I don't care!" In fact, I belong to two "older BTS fans" group online and I am among the younger members. So there you go! BTS forever! Borahae!

Yes Jungkook is the youngest and he is also the MAIN vocalist, not the lead vocalist. It may initially sound like semantics but there is a distinction between the two. Jungkook is the main vocalist because he is most often at the center of the acts. Technically there is no lead singer. A lead singer is typically the one person in a group that carries the vocals with the rest of the group being backup. That is not the way BTS is constructed.

Jungkook was so shy in the beginning, The company wasn't sure they were going to be able to debut him cause he struggled to sing in front of people. he has changed so much. Album reviews would be cool, as each album does hold a concept/theme and you can learn a lot about their journey through their music.

What a debut eh? Despite the efforts by others in the industry to try to keep them down they pushed through and hung in there transforming from a hip hop group to an IDOL group and encompassing a wide range of different genres. Their determination and attention to detail put them in front but it wasn't plain sailing for a few years. The song was written by Pdogg, "Hitman" Bang, RM, SUGA, j-hope, Supreme Boi and Jung Kook An interesting point is that SUGA actually got his big rings which he sang about here. He had a ring for each letter of SUGA but lost one at a concert in Germany. The girl who found it wanted to return it but he told her she could keep it. RM says that Jungkook is their centre so at the age of 15 on debut he was holding their performances together. (Sorry that's not a very good description of his role). He rapped occasionally in those days and still does sometimes. At the time Jimin was the one with the muscles on show and Jungkook was supposed to have the boyish look so he wasn't supposed to work out like he does now. Their company had very little money so their clothes were cheap and over printed to look like top brands. Another group had dropped out of their debut show or they wouldn't have debuted when they did. When they went in as trainees they had to suffer through monthly evaluations so a lot of those they trained with initially didn't make the cut and their dreams were shattered. They still occasionally perform this but the line where JK has to lift Jimin up to run along the backs of the others now includes support dancers so it's a lot longer so he has to run faster. In K-Pop the groups make a debut then each time they bring out a new song it's called a, 'Come Back'. I love No More Dream but I'm pleased that they moved away from hip hop and followed the path they have. The variety makes their work so interesting. RM was just 18 when they debuted and had the arduous position of Leader to cope with. He has to be the mediator between the group and management but doesn't get paid any more than the others. His high IQ and high emotional intelligence made him perfect for the job even though he's the middle child of the group. We call him, The President. You mentioned about each of them coming to the fore to do their part and they still do that now. Unfortunately songs are getting shorter which makes that very difficult. I started watching BTS about January 2019. I think the first song I heard was IDOL. Being retired I was able to fall down the rabbit hole quickly and learn a lot about them in a very short time. Unfortunately not speaking much Korean means that I miss a lot and maybe get things wrong but don't mind being corrected. After BTS I like SHINee and enjoy watching them behind the scenes and at home. I love their most recent group song, 'Hard'.
