I’m a runner and I can attest that the Nordic track is harder than a treadmill, stair master or trail/road mountain run. I finally found my ultimate challenge & an amazing workout in one’s own home. I remember hearing “a Nordic skier can run but not all runners can Nordic ski” this is so true!!

Now can you believe I have just picked this fantastic machine in a Goodwill store for 2.99$!!! Yes, under 3 bucks! That is why I have looked some videos on it and you did a great job to introduce this beauty to me, thank you! I am excited now. And the goal is to learn real country skiing one day soon. Regards Jana

On my Nordic Track (basic one from 1984), the handles have a wrist strap just like a ski pole. Works great. Also, when the arm resistance disc became noisy and worn a bit, I cut a bushing from a coffee can lid (poly ethylene?) to put between the pads and the disc. Makes it silky smooth and prevents any groove from wearing into the disc. Just some ideas I've come up with over the last 38 years of use.

I just finished dusting off my Nordic Track-Pro, and it looks beautiful! I am so excited. It's been in storage for 30 years. And when I was done cleaning it off, I took it for a spin, and the skis moved like a knife through butter. I already know this is a real sweat machine, but I didn't know until I was reading your comments that if a guy has concerns about exercise and his knees the Nordic Track can be a good alternative to running. Thanks for posting!

I have this same machine, bought a barely used one from a guy for $90. They still sell it online for $799. It ended up in storage about 15 years ago. I got it out, dusted it off and put it up for sale $100. No takers after a couple months. I decided to give it a try again and have found that it’s a great cardio workout. I do high intensity intervals on it. So took it off FB market place and will hopefully stay at it

When I was about 13yrs old I was a chubby guy. So I started running on my mom’s treadmill and I lost a lot of weight. Unfortunately I ran it to death and the motor quit finally. She had mentioned it to a friend of hers and the friend generously lent us her Nordic Pro-Skier. I was relieved at the time because this thing gave me the same workout but I no longer had to stress out about another unreliable treadmill. Eventually she asked for it back but it got me through a rough time weight-wise!

First time i done that i thought i was about to die. Honestly though when i used it. It was the best exercise machine i ever had. I am thinking about buying a new one. And hopefully when i loose some weight i can start back jump roping as well. Thanks for the review

What’s built in the sliding mechanism? Are there small bearings to allow the skis to move back and forth or something similar?
@acd-combatives

The skis fit into channels with hard rubber rollers. The skis & rollers have friction allowing for a smooth motion without slipping.

Benefits these are all over for free or next to nothing. Also look for the nordictrack walkfit/ strength areobic manual tread mill. They are similar to skier but a manual treadmill and arms with height adjustment, and tension adjustment. You can walk and jog on it and use arms like a elliptical and is flyvwherl tension which is all the rage now and very expensive. The skier is best if you have knee problems.

thanks for sharing this info. I tried one of these at my father in laws house many years ago and fell in love with it. it has a unique intuitive feel and gives you an instant feeling of cardio and upper strength toning that is very satisfying. today i bought one from a wonderful couple ( a doctor and his wife) for $25 on our nextdoor app! (Which the couple gave to charity) The machine is in great shape and I can't wait to get started. do you use wd 40 on any of the parts? thanksagain!

just received one and the whole set up seems a little "loose". The stainless pole has quite a bit of play, it appears yours does as well? also one of the skis is a little warped which creates an unecessarily loud clunking when using it.
@acd-combatives
@acd-combatives 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes to your question-" a Little loose". It is a good thing. You are driving into the machine and it needs a little give. You will have some knocking but if the ski is warped, maybe request a replacement. The machine is not stealthy (some knocking) but you should not have a warped ski.

The walk fit are more for walking and slight jogging. They are not long enough to do a full stride run like the expensive manual treadmill that cost $5k. But they are better than the cheap manual treadmill like from sunny fitness, because they have a stability bar that you can lean against to stay up right without your hands holding onto something.

It was almost like a love/hate relationship when it came tothis machine. One the one hand, I knew how effective it was and how good I felt after 25 minutes on the machine. However, on the other hand. If calorie burn is you goal a fan bike like schwinn, Rouge burns more calories fast. But it is not very fun or be done extended sessions. A rower, skier, walkfit manual treadmill, or stair stepper are more enjoyable for longer sessions
