Just found a complete 505 somebody was throwing out. Wear wise it looks like they used it for a few weeks then threw it in basement. Totally took it 100% apart, cleaned, polished everything, 3 in one the rollers. Works like new. Great video. I remember seeing these on TV when I was growing up. Perfect low impact for my aching body.

I was just poking around online to see what kind of videos are out there on NordicTrack. Our family has always been so pleased and grateful that you've continued to provide parts and repair for our original NordicTracks, thereby keeping a good thing going! I'd be happy to add a bit to your video if you like, sometime when I'm back in Minnesota. - Terri Pauls, daughter of Ed Pauls, inventor of NordicTrack in 1976. Ranked 9th in the U.S. in cross-country skiing in 1989.

@Bryan Jones You've been spending too much time at Harbor Freight. Good quality items cost more to make, so they cost more to buy. Good quality things are built to last a lifetime. Definitely worth it.

That would be a great video to see, Ms Pauls. In the mean time, I think this video shows the best technique of all: m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rLNjoZqCrt3GZ3U.html

I bought my NordicTrack original Xcountry skier in 1989. It is well built and has endured my many moves and fits of exercise seasons. Now I really am working on getting back in shape and my NordicTrack is going to get me there. So glad to know I can get parts for it still. I love it, and is now the only machine I can use because of knee and hip problems. Love this product and it is very effective for weight loss and fat loss.

Bought my "Achiever" model in 1996 and it remains one of the best purchases I've ever made! I unfold/fold it every time I use and it takes less than a minute to do both. I live in a small NYC 1-bdrm apartment and I simply lean it up against the wall in my bedroom and roll it out to the living room to work out. It could fit in most closets, if you prefer. Anyway, this is great, simple exercise and yeah, it does do your entire body. I do a 5-min warmup (just legs, no arms), then 30-40 minutes of both, then a 5-min cool down. And you can just turn on your TV to pass the time while your exercise. The only thing this won't address is weight training. Also, the learning curve is SLIGHTLY longer than simply stepping on an elliptical or treadmill. But hey, I'm a total klutz, and if I learned how to do this in just one session, believe me, anyone can! The trick to learning it is to just start with the leg motion ONLY. Forget about your arms. Then, after you have the leg motion down, let one arm swing naturally, and then the other. Finally, grab the hand grips, continuing that natural arm motion. It's when you try to do the whole exercise at once - cold - that it can seem overwhelming. But if you learn it sequentially like I've described - takes only about 5-10 minutes - you'll have it down easily! This is great exercise. If you did nothing but Nordic Track three or four times a week you'll be a very healthy person. (Honestly, I joined a gym last January to see what else people are doing, but I'm back to just my Nordic Track now - it's just simpler and easier -and a helluva lot cheaper!) I can't recommend these enough. The fact that you can easily pick one up - remember this was a $300-700 machine originally - for only $50 on craigslist or eBay is mind boggling! I urge anyone considering a Nordic Track to get one!

I got my dusty NT out of the corner and started using again. Anyone know where to find workout videos online to watch while working out? Use to have a NT video cassette of them eons ago. Love the fact that there is no technology involved and it was made here in the US.

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbKRjLxi3L7IYIU.html I love how the NordicTrack spokesperson cautions home users to not use the incline until they've learned the technique and are comfortable on a flat surface first. Then he tells Ed he's ready for the incline and Ed looks like a deer caught in the headlights. Keep in mind, the video wants you to believe he's only been on a Nordic Track for 4 minutes for his entire life. He just barely gets past the "looking like a newborn deer becoming steady on it's wobbly legs" stage. I wonder how many people sprained something using the NordicTrack incline for the first time because they thought, "Until I'm comfortable? Ed was only on there for 30 seconds and he's doing it. Sheesh, this'll be a piece of cake." :-D

I bought a Pro model in 1987 when they were still being made in the good ol' US of A. In over 30 yrs of heavy use, I've replaced the drive rollers, the front leg rubber feet & the drag strap one time each. The mechanical speedometer has been replaced twice. Other than that, regular oiling of the supporting wheels at the front & rear, oiling the roller bearing for the arm cord drum & waxing of the skis, my skier is just as smooth & quiet as it was the first day I bought it. I can't remember what I paid for it (somehow $600 sticks in my mind), but it was money well spent. I highly recommend the USA made skier, if you can find one. I have no experience with the newer ChiCom made ones, but experience & common sense tells me they won't last as long or will be made as well.

I am so glad to find this video! I am just getting my 2nd hand pro out of the corner of the basement. Luckily it was just folded flat to move it. I don't even know how long its been since anyone used it but it's coming back into use now. I am not walking outside in St Louis heat and humidity! But - I have no manual or paperwork. Is anyone willing to copy theirs and send it to me? I spent over an hour trying to talk to someone at Nordic track this afternoon and never did get any response - by on line chat or on the phone. Not doing that again.

I hear ya about the heat and humidity. I'm on the east side. Just bought a used NT and am thrilled to find this video for proper use of the pro skier. I went slow and pretty much figured out how to do everything he's mentioned by trial and error. I don't think there would be anymore beneficial information in the manual than what is in this video. There are other videos that describe how to put it together if needed.

There isn't enough about the Classic model. We just bought a used one and it whistles at the resistance tabs in between the skis when we start moving the skis. Can't figure out what's wrong.

I picked one up at the thrift store for $20. I was going to take it apart and use the pulleys for a zip line, and buy the cable by the foot at the hardware store. I bought the first skier that they were demonstrating. The machine does not have nice smooth skiing action that shows in the video, maybe the rollers underneath? I think I may use it for a while if I can get a smoother leg action, the arm action is good. Nordictrack still sells parts for these machines at an outrageous price. $50.for the big pulley and a $100, for the pulley with the paracord and handles. So, I figure I will get my moneys worth either way...as a zipline or use it as is if I can get the leg action going....one side slides easy and the other side feels like it is sticking (skiing part)??? so if anyone knows how to correct that, please leave a comment.

You know the strap/belt that goes from the front post and around the flywheel? Loosen it up and take a stiff brush to it. Note the exact way the belt is looped thru the bracket on the post. It has to be looped exactly that way for it to work properly, (just in case you have to take it out of the bracket to brush). I used to work for customer service at NordicTrack.

Anyone know how much room you need to operate one of these? I have found the dimensions online (75" length) but it's unclear how much clearance around the machine you need to operate. I have a small space where this could technically fit but not if I need to allow significant extra room in front or back for the skis.

How to fold this thing flat???
@drewbob3030
@drewbob3030 6 жыл бұрын
Folding flat may be a bit inaccurate. You can fold down the uprights portions. Then, if your bed is high enough off the floor (12-18 inches) you can slide it under there. Or, in my case, you can stand it on end once folded and put it in a closet. Takes up a bit more room than a vacuum cleaner.

Why doesnt your company honor its return policy. I have had my treadmill 2 weeks and it stopped working. They want to charge me $400.00 to return it. This is the worst company I have ever had to work with I wish I had done more homework before I purchased it! Worst decision ever!!
