I worked for Daimler Chrysler as a machine repairman/ machinist at the Kokomo, IN casting plant. We worked with some quite large machinery, but I'd love to see the some of the machining processes in action. I am impressed by the cleanliness of such a large facility! Loved the tour..thank you.

Love to be able to do a tour like this. Back in the 70s-80s, I was a member of the Navy Reserve, the center was across the highway from these shops. Saw them from the outside many times, but never inside. Quite interesting.

The NS livery is really eye catching, especially a new paint job.

My dad had retired from the Enola diesel shop as a machinist/mechanic. I got to go there yesterday it was awesome. Great video thanks for sharing love seeing this stuff or anything railroad/ Norfolk Southern related.

Fascinating video for anyone building a model loco shop. One could spend hours getting the interior details right. the NS Juniata Locomotive Shops are the best in the world Only because of hard work that went into from the Pennsy and later Conrail.... the work crew is mostly ex Conrail... Conrail still rules the rails !!

Deryk, that was a great tour. By "family day" is Norfolk Southern only allowing employees families to look around or are they open to the general public? I forgot how huge North American rail equipment is. This puts it back into perspective. Thanks for posting, looking forward to part 2.

the SD60s and the SD70s are very good looking units until some idiot starts makin alterations in the attempt to make it more user friendly. I have seen a lot of stuff lately that just looks off. The short hoods on the SD40-2s are missing the upper radii that gives them the strength to resist a slow speed collision. they just look cheap as hell!
