@SCSUHootieHoo191 Fact: Redan DID in fact come up with that fanfare around my 8th or 9th grade year its called "STFU!" Stephenson even plays it now... but they call it "Redan". All im sayin is give us credit where its due.

STFU WAS MADE BY REDAN. IT WAS A BASELINE TO A SONG THEY PLAYED IN A JAMBOREE IN EITHER 2006 OR 2007. SO THEY MAYBE HIGH SCHOOLER BUT THERE ACTUALLY RIGHT ABOUT WHERE IT CAME FROM.

SCSU tubas got it...cleaner and they picked funkier bass beats...very talented though. That was a clinic...VSU tubas are another good group.

@Bobofwestoregonusa I agree with you about TBI sounding better on Kings...I never got the chance to play on the Conns...but when i was there (06-08) we were smashing on those Kings...

@Bobofwestoregonusa ur right abt us playin short, we do dat b/c when ur outside the further the note travels the longer it sounds. Norfolk's tubas sound better in a gym than they do outside b/c by the time the sound reaches the other side of the field it sounds mushed & they dont sound like one horn like you're supposed to. We (TBI) sound better outside than we do in a gym. Every school has its own playing style. TBI, The Rock, & J-State are the only sections i know of dat plays short like dat.

@BNazt There was a REdan alum (C/O 2004) that played Sousa at SCSU in 07....his name was Jacorbey...i forgot his last name...he died a few years ago tho...

Damn, SCSU really sounds better this year. But they still play with a lot of edge in their sound. I get that it's the style they go for with their playing. But I like Norfolks rounder darker sound. Honestly, I think TBI sounded better on Kings. Great sounding horns and they do a lot of compensating for the way they play. It's easier to sound REALLY good playing like that on a king. Still two damn good sections.

NSU made me want to go to sleep, i had to watch a horsepower video after this to get back into a hyped mood

@KillaPhi2k11 I hope u dont REALLY think Redan was da first section to ever play that. I can think of at least 15 high schools in FLA and Alabama that play that and at least 6 colleges that same call-out. But you're still in high school so i wouldnt expect you to know any better...

@SCSUHootieHoo191 06-08 was the truth for TBI man. Conns have more of an open tone, but they're also not as fat. You can play louder, but the tone quality suffers a little bit if you overblow. It's so hard to overblow on kings. The thing is TBI is playing to short and pinched. Norfolk sounds bigger becuase they give their notes their full value. They only play them a little short to add to that "bounce" feel, like you're supposed to do. Otherwise it sounds pitchless. Both sections sounded good.

Both get the L for me, I Could play all that stuff when I was in high school not even my senior year. These colleges are gonna have to come harder than this. Only section I like in hbcu is VSU
