i liked VSU better b/c the fanfare and the power they came wit was just great but i well say the balanes of NSU having 27 tubas was awsome that shit anit eazy wit 27 tubas so mad props to both and the only time NSU got blown out was 2006-07 other then that they abt the same just depends on what u like more VSU'S musicality OR NSU'S power

that's a solid understanding of how these two sections work. nsu for the longest stressed power and did what the tuba is sposed to do..play lows...but these last two years showed me that they are grasping the concept that power and what the instrument is supposed to do doesn't always get you a W. nsu wasn't as good as they were last year, but i like how they are learning how to evolve their fanfares now. too bad this was their last shot at HP. i hear theres no more LDCs after this one.

Horsepower is still a beast even without the 2 "soloists" playing with them this year. This just shows that the other members of the section can step up and bring the heat just as well. The whole section stepped up and came with it and took the victory again this year. Bodacious was great also. I enjoyed hearing both..it really was a close battle

Horsepower handles Bodacious every year in my opinion. Horsepower can match up well with any sousaphone section in the country.

Honestly the whole "NSU better not sleep on SCSU" is stupid. NSU has been on fire for years and ONLY continue to get better each year. SCSU got their asses handed to them last year when the legion went down there. If anything South Carolina better bring their A+++++ game cuz no doubt the legion will do the same.

Both of them sections are monsters. NSU got bass and a fat full sound. VSU got that crazy tech and volume for a small section. lol buth them cats who was always blowin' the solos, Dvar and the other dude, graduated. Still raw though. both of them.

this is a great example of size means nothing its about what u can do on your horn. yes i went to vsu also and in my opinion horsepower out played nsu. ofcourse they could never be louder than nsu because of the size and it would be stupid to try to so hp took the smart approach out play them and they did much respect to nsu because they have stepped there skills up, and good job paris gettin them boys in shape

I would simply like to say that " EVERY PROFESSIONAL WAS ONCE A BEGINNER" , Whatever happened to encouragement? No matter how good you are or think you are, there is always someone better. Ever notice that kids watch and are learning faster at younger ages,......because they strive to be better than the person or persons they are watching..........I liked both sections, the sounds were good, now the entertainment part is what to judge!

I beg to differ Norfolk didn't hand any loses when they came down. Especially after being there myself and clips included it was a no win game. I agree SCSU needs to bring an A+ game only because this is their first gym battle and they need to finally erase the " big band with no sound" idea of them.

@EsSpecialProductions: Everyone takes fanfares from them. They are changing the game. Even my highschool section has plenty of things from them. It's sad for universities to be taking fanfares from other universities though.

HP was out numbered 4-1, but resuls was still the same as usual. Bodacious sound nice, but numbers can't win it alone. Big ups to HP for not backing down.

Honestly Bodacious need to be ready for TBI at SCSU. Don't sleep they can be just as creative as HP and don't forget they 're as deep as you guys are. I admit you guys are good don't get me wrong but I just don't want you to already claim a best tuba section title and sleep on TBI.

Then you try going up against a section with more than double your numbers. I liked VSU better. Because I like their style and how they play. They can play LOUD for their size. And from what I can hear, it doesn't sound bad at all. Anyone who says it does has some sort of a bias and shouldn't even reply. NSU wasn't bad either. I just happen to like VSU more.

dude tuba sections play other tuba sections stuff all the time...its a matter of what you do with it. if you play it verbatim then its kind of wack but if you make it your own then cool...nsu and vsu both use each others fanfares and likewise from other sections... HP 04-08

VSU sounded sloppy trying to over compensate. Too much splat. NSU took this one. In isolation the few that went to the basement where a tuba should be, outperformed VSU. VSU was boxy in parts. Paul Adams would have chewed VSU out for that. Bodacious over Horse Power. With all the numbers they didn’t over play because they didn’t have to.

VSU was Over Blowing and out of tune.. without their soloist they sound like a pretty good highschool.
