The Norinco JW-15 .22 LR is the perfect rifle for those who enjoy small game hunting on a budget. This rifle will easily pick off rabbits and possums with ease and accuracy and comes with decent build quality for the price.

An excellent review, to the point, disassembled the rifle, etc. Good quality video. Did more in 5min than most American reviews do in 15min!

I’m applying for my license now. Iv been stuck trying to find and deciding on a 22 that’s right for me and not expensive, Sounds like it’s allot of bang for you buck and a great first rifle. Thumbs up by the way, keep up the good work👍

I have one of these, the plastic stock short barrel JW 15, its more accurate than the 10/22's ive fired. These are a really good little .22 for the money. The accuracy out of the box was a real surprise and it just got better once it was broken in, free floated the barrel and polished the trigger surfaces. But,,, my neighbour had an older long barrel wooden stock version with no work done to it and it was really inacurate, as in, 3 inch groups at 25m inacurate.

What was the extent of your action "polishing"? How have you found the accuracy of the synthetic JW? (I've heard that the synthetic model suffered from accuracy issues). Also, what sub ammo did you do d shoots the best through the JW? Thanks...

Mine was a bit rough on the bolt lift too, but smoothed out fairly fast....Yes... they are accurate rifles with a decent scope and no loose nut on the butt (and the right ammo of course... .22s are fussy that way)... Got the trigger down to 2 1/2lbs and nice and crisp too.....

What did you do to the trigger to get it down to 2 1/2 lbs?

As I recall, it was a matter of removing the creep with the adjustment screw after carefully stoning the sear and bent. It was a while back, and I am not 100% certain, but I may have taken a tiny bit off the return spring to reduce the tension just a tad. Perhaps I was lucky, but that's all it took, although I have worked on one or two others (I do gun smithing) and they were similar. A trigger adjusted this fine needs the whole mechanism to be kept VERY clean. They set them a bit heavy and creepy at the factory to allow for neglect/ dirt/rust/sticky old oil....So adjustments are at your own risk.... be careful to make sure that it is still a safe and consistent let-off. :-) I was surprised that it came out this well, at least as good as my old Brno Model 2 with which I should never have parted (but at the time I really needed the money). I think this little Chinese copy is 95% as good as the Brno at a quarter of the price. The only real shortcoming over the Brno is the rear sight, which is more lightly constructed with no precise range markings like the original, which is a miniature version of the tangent sights seen on the big rifles. Oh, by the way, my Norinco has the 22" barrel...... The metals in the important bits seem to be of excellent quality and well heat treated, and I see no reason why this rifle should not outlast my old carcass, and perhaps someone else's too! ;-)

Hello sir, I would need your help if you can with this rifle. I would need all the exact measurements of the part that has the firing pin spring pushing on. Think it's called striker spring support. I can machine one but need the specs to be able to make it. Hope you can help me. Tks

+Tazblack70 Hey there, sorry I missed your comment. Not quite sure of the exact measurements you're asking for. A schematic of the part in question and the measurements required would be helpful. However, manufacturing firearms is illegal in New Zealand (without extensive licensing) and giving you this information may look as though I am trying to manufacture the rifle too. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

+BushBrothersNZ It's all good. I found somebody who helped me out with dimensions. It's illegal to manufacture a firearm but what about making a part for it. I know in NZ you guys can build your own suppressors.

Considering you can still have semi auto rifles in NZ, wouldn't a Ruger 10/22 be a better idea?
@mobstamaniac
@mobstamaniac 8 жыл бұрын
It's about cash, I would go for a Marlin if I was going bolt action or the 10/22 for semi auto. But the Ruger is about 150 - 200 dollars more than the Norinco, the Marlin is about 500 dollars. At the moment having next to no money I'm looking at this, but I really value quality so I'll just wait I think.

This new bare was $200, compared with $650 for a ruger 10/22. By all accounts the long barrel jw15 is more accurate than the 10/22 semi. But probably a lot less fun, and ego stroking.

I've had the wooden stock version of this for about 15 years and I haven't used the safety for almost that long. I can't remember specifics other than it was dangerous! I just make sure it is unloaded instead now. Otherwise It's been a great little toy

But not even come close in quality. I got both, and disposed the chinese as soon as I could. Taking it from the carton box it came full of a thick grease, so I washed in turp. Then before I lubricate it properly I noticed how bad were the finishing, so as this video explains, I also expend some time filing and sanding it on a few places, and managed to make it work. While I did that I noticed the horrible quality of the metal it was constructed, not different to what you find in a chinese shovel from Bunnings. When it shoot, because it has a long barrel is accurate to a point, comparable with some cheap americans like the Merlin 22 in accuracy. You will never win a competition with it but you can put down some Coca Cola cans with it under 50 metres. However everytime I shoot it it sent rubbish back to my eyes and face. So I was never happy with it, at the beggining it was tight and stiff to use, then with some use was getting easier to operate, but it worn out quickly, so I decided to get rid of it before it become unsuable. At the end you get what you pay for. If you want to have some fun with expending little money, go ahead and buy it, but if you expect any quality and to keep it for a long time forget it. It is a cheap copy of the CZ 455, get the real CZ and you will never regret it.

I highly doubt it, rimshots aren't very powerful I think the biggest thing you'd kill with it would be a dog or goat with a well placed shot. For pigs you would want to go with a centrefire 223 at least and it often takes a few shots to drop them.
