When you view this with the knowledge that norm was dying of cancer many of his jokes take on so much of a heavier and darker tone that no one thought twice about at the time. I had the feeling that this was a theme in a lot more subjects in which he was speaking over the head of the audience but was illiciting laughter none the less. I feel he may be unappreciated yet still greatly appreciated for which i find profound.

Dave brought these clips up in the Norm special on Netflix. He said what I felt about them, but even then I don’t think he or anyone in the room really expressed how genius this was. These two clips deserve to be in some sort of comedy hall of fame. The world completely shut down days after this and he cut through the anxiety of it all by facing how macabre it all was. It was total madness and fear and he just embraced it and by so doing he brought some normalcy into it all. The perfect comic for the right time.
