Well soybeans are bit of a princess crop as well… they can’t swim very well when we’ve had 12” of rain in the last 30 days in the upper Midwest. The Corn sure does love the humidity though.

How do you manage compaction with crops that do a taproot? Do you see problems with them bundling out or is it managable with a good rotation in no till?

@@Northern_FarmerOr long enough growing season. We plant 104 day corn after we chop winter rye end April early May and we don’t get to harvesting till like early November. Up where Mike lives I bet it’s already snowing lol. Usually down here we don’t get a good killing frost til early Nov so as long as corn is fully mature it doesn’t matter. But yeah you definitely can’t get a frost in like September. 😂

Don’t most people use potash in their fertilizer. Mix to crate strong stem to prevent lodging.. As I understand it, it doesn’t take a lot, but it sure makes a hell of a deal

@@jimjohn5348 It's rare. In my area they only perform heavier tillage on low lying areas and/or problem weedy areas. Otherwise they just seed into the stubble from the previous crop year.
