In this part, I am travelling from Gangtok to Lachen, commencing our North Sikkim 3 day trip. The northern part of Sikkim is a slice of heaven, also called 'mini-Ladakh' courtesy to the barren landscape.
Lachen is a small village, which is the perfect place to break the journey between Gangtok and Gurudongmar Lake (most gorgeous place in Sikkim, hands down). The drive to Lachen is laden by nature’s marvels - stop for photographs with waterfalls, marvel at meandering brooks, or just sip on a cup of tea at a small eatery that offers stunning views of the Himalayas (get a glimpse of Kanchenjunga).
Although the distance is 118 kilometres, it easily takes around 6-7 hours of an adventurous bumpy ride. With a population of about 1000 people, Lachen has its unique form of local self-governance called the “Dzumsa”.

We went on a road trip to Sikkim in April-May (Summer season which is the best time to visit), India and enjoyed staying and travelling in the gorgeous state which is not exactly on everyone's list but, oh boy, it should be! The tiny state packs in everything for me, the barren landscapes of the north, to the green wild east, cultural south and the vibrant capital, Gangtok, in the west. Glittering glacial lakes, endless pastures, waterfalls at every turn, quiet monastery towns, and scenic drives in Sikkim made it a a trip to remember.
I have started these VLOGs to help people out to plan their travel and highlight the HITs and MISS of any place, so that they can make an informed decision.
