The AU dollar had hyperinflated in the 90's, and GW adjusted their prices appropriately, but when the economy recovered GW saw no reason to change their prices from what people were 'used to'.

As soon as North told the person living in Australia, to carte blanche the hobby, I hit the like button. I'm English, whenever another Brit tells someone outside of the UK to do whatever tf they want when it comes to ebay/recasts/"counts as"/proxy/kitbashing GW, it puts a big smile on my face. Stupid costs, idk why but it embarrasses me that I come from the same land that GW comes from 🤦‍♂️ Edit: now visualising fellow blanche art enjoyers doing a Jeff Goldblum's Jurassic Park "now that is a big pile of sh*t" whenever the lore gets one of these "add-ons"

Warwick castle is such a nice place when they have events on, I went when I was 11, was lucky enough to watch some jousting and the trebuchet fire! Definitely want to go back, glad you guys had a good time

Auzzie here. In the past I would build my armies consisting of second hand miniatures, but in recent years I have begun to design, sculpt, mold and cast up my own models by hand. Sold most of my GW models but kept several armies as well as the odd model that I really liked, as well as my bits boxes. (Had like 24 years of collection build up.) Occasionally I will buy a second hand model here and there for nostalgia purposes only. Other than that, have very little reason to buy new (or even second hand) models unless I have a very specific conversion in mind, such as de-Primarus-fying Jhaghati Khan for my White Scars army, or acquiring bits to scratch build fleets for Battlefleet Gothic. P.s. A couple of mates are from New Zealand and apparently they have it even worse than Australia when it comes to GW prices!

Yeah sorry but IMHO its 100% justified for anyone to pirate OOP/Failcast GW models. And at this point I'm starting to lean towards thinking pirating ALL GW models would be justified with these price hikes, in recession #18 since the year 2000.

There are some absolutely beautiful stuff for proxy kreigsman on myminifactory, tanks, weapons platforms, flyers and all the other stuff that GW doesn't provide for them. Grab a bottle of rum, pick your favourite sea shanty and sail the seven seas!

If Titanics couldn't be brought to 1,000 points or lower, Imperial Knights wouldn't even be playable without allying in an Inquisitor warlord since they don't have a character armiger like Chaos Knights do.

I agree - I got into 40k at 3rd edition as soon as sixth emerged I was done. I'd already spent enough to buy a new car on the hobby and it was clear that we were essentially just an open wallet to games workshop. I was so sick of the space it took up and the lack of community here outside of the stores that I dumped the lot at my local store and simply drove away. Nowadays I have just gotten back into the hobby, but print my armies and my friends and only play OPR. GW isn't getting a cent.

I’m having the same problem with our space marines player using a knight paladin in his army. We were playing 500-1,000 points and this guy drops a knight on the table. We’re all either new players or new to 10th edition and it’s forced us to learn the rules and proper terrain layouts in order to at least have a chance of not getting shot off the board by turn 2. Every time we play it’s nothing but arguments and complaining from one side or the other. Debating on finding a different group to play with.

Im an aussi i got into wh at the codex launch for militarum in 9th. Bout the cadia stands and the old start collecting box with the russ. 500 aud. The codex was useless before i got done painting. Wasted money. Then 10th happened and i got more tanks. The gaurd is so bad compared to armys with a codex. Unless you want to be artillary based. And how long will it be till a basilisk is 170 points. We need a codex. Long story short another price hike, inflation, 4 kids and the custodes mess. I got a fillament printer and a resin printer sick of getting shafted by gw. I still play and buy physical stuff at my local hobby store just no money for gw plastic

I really enjoy Battletech win or lose and play it once in awhile, but I know what you mean about fanatical Battletech bros.😆 I observed a few of these boastful/fanatical types at a gaming con in the 90s.

I really only have a couple models in my Heresy army that are legit. Mostly just characters that I used larger kits and did bits trades to kitbash and my rhinos. I absolutely despise the deimos rhino kit and refuse to ever build another one.

Man, I feel the first guy. RPGs and Dungeon Crawls just don't do it for me anymore. I keep them when I have an itch to scratch, but wargaming is *chef's kiss*

List tailoring aside, Baneblades in 9th were a detriment to your list more times than not.

It was cheaper to have my custodes art level commissioned in other countries than to buy them all here in aus let alone paints and game accessories

Definitely agree that female Custodians would never have gone down well with the majority of the fanbase (although, I have to add as someone who originally got into the 40K fandom circa 3rd Edition, I've always hated John Blanche's artwork; for me, the definitive and most iconic 40K artist is Adrian Smith).

Hope there's Ghost of Tsushima gameplay in the next video! Ashamed to admit it but I've been in all weekend enjoying it.😂

I live in NZ. I got an entry level resin printer, wash and cure machine, and 2 litres of resin for the price of the Leviathan box, which is probably the last GWs I'll buy. Currently churning out solar auxilia for a few cents per model, and finishing a warhound that cost about 1/3 the price of a box of Space Marines here.

I've gotten into contact with 40k through Space Crusade when that was still in shelves, played Epic for a bit and got into the actual game when 4th edition came out. And I still can't see where people draw the horrors about the female Custodian from. To me, the issue really was in how they handled it. Acting like it has always been there when their own books said otherwise. Yet the sex of a character holds no meaning to the tone, the content, and the plot. And those three things are what matters to me. If everything else stays grimdark and gritty, with the rare moments of heroism that shine all the brighter for the darkness they happen in, the genitals of the protagonists don't matter. What would turn me off is if GW now started to shift the stories where female Custodians start to lament sexism, demand equal opportunity and are shown to complain about a lack of hygene and self-care by their male counterparts. Yet that's a slippery slope argument. I'll draw consequences when that happens, not when people get scared that it might. Because in that case, if we go by what people are afraid what might come next, GW would have been burnt down long ago. Aside from that, I've seen so many retcons and overhauls that people just took with a shrug or put of criticisms about it with "Well, that's just how GW storytelling works for you" that I honestly can't see how this one shift that litterally changes nothing in the grand scheme of things beyond the potential names range for Custodians gets them so worked up now. After all, if we want the old lore back, then we'd need to go back to include female Space Marines. The only reasons their faction got retconned to all-male is that back then there was no market for the female models. Seems like that has changed by now, which is a good thing. So, if you're scared of female Space Marines as well, be careful what you wish for...
