Re lore When "female custodes" was very first leaked, a few of us brainstormed on discord how it would be introduced - knowing that creatives had wanted it years ago and had plenty of time to thing about it, we figured they _must_ have lore coming to explain it. My own idea was that Big E had female Custodes back in Unification Wars era. The contingent was lost in a warp storm (or stasis field or something) way back when. Big E never created more and the method of their creation was lost. Suddenly their craft gets spat out, it's 10 years later for them, 12,000 for everyone else. They have to reassimilate into a new Imperium which is very different from that they left.how will they interact with the other Custodians, the Astartes - the *Ministorum* ? It _could_ have delivered some cool stories - similar to Primarchial returns, but with different perspectives. Those who want it could have it. Those who don't could ignore it We address their absence from lore to date. Sure, it's still shoehorned and awkward, but at least it's _something_ - we figured they must have learned from the Primaris debacle and be ready to do a better job, right? But we got "they've always been there lol" 🤮🤬

Not gonna lie I'd love to hear more Magic or yugioh nightmares, the latter in particular is a "hold my beer" for those who think that 40k leads to outrageous behaviour.

I don't think that there is any way that GW can put female space marines into the lore without making fans angry while also provoking those demanding such a change to further hurl insults at those who don't want it. It is already bad enough dealing with people who think that the original Sisters of Battle figures from the adventurers range were marines or that 3rd party magazines from the 1980s can be considered official.

I like the spirit of his female space marine alternate story concept. He correctly noted that new material is needed, not the destruction of existing content

Why not just make the lore that Amar Astarte was working a proto female space marine force in the Hersey and she died before it was viable, and Cawl found the remnants of the research and succeeded where she failed and they are their own legion as they share no specific primarch gene seed.

Well just had my 20th wedding anniversary at the beginning of the month. The key to a good marriage is if you are willing to give up anything for the other and they are willing to do the same, you will always have room to compromise. As far as female Custodes, just treat them like Schrödinger's Cat. Until the helmet comes off they are neither male or female. It will just be based off YOUR perspective. If you want only males in your army, congrats, you succeeded. Want all females? That's fine as well. Just don't push it onto your fellow players.

I agree with the one submitter - ADD new ideas/things into the lore, do not modify old lore and slap the die hard friends in the face. Instead add the new female characters and create a unique back story why they exist and what happened to them, make it new and exciting, don't gaslight fans!!!!

The female space marine story bit would break the lore even more, such as space marines tampering with their geneseed. Female space highly likely going to happen, how gw does it will probably half assed and make no sense. The last part, you kind of have to remind them. Men don't attack women physically or verbally. for the female custodies. i would have wrote it that fabius bile figured out how to make natural born marines. and a mechanicus unit along with grey knights or inquisition found his lab. cawl gets word, he steals the body of a female marine. takes it to earth as hes being hunted by the mechanicus and gilliman. goes to earth where custodian gene seed is the most purest and sturdy out of all them. and using a gene seed and his lab. he was able to make a female custodian. which the custodians would praise and the rest of those who know would be more angry

Just do not add Female space marines, you directly already wrote quite a bit of lore saying this was not possible. Custodes i am totally fine with since they are hand crafted and a totally different process. If you do not and say you will not, the worst you lose is what maybe 10 people total? this minority has to be insanely small to worry about such a useless topic that has already been getting kicked around for a long time and rejected for just as long.

First story, nope. As you said it's overly obvious what they are doing if they make female space marines. My question is why would you want female space marines? What's the obsession? You have sisters of battle which are awesome and incredibly similar anyway in terms of wargear and behaviour. It's because someone said no women allowed. That's all. They turn it into feminist nonsense. When you say no men allowed, no one cares however. No one is asking for a Brother of Battle. Don't give into these people. Don't compromise with them. They are here to push an agenda not to get involved in the game. Gatekeep the shit out of it when it comes to them.

I really think no quarter should be given by adding these levels of political correctness to the lore. For one, I go to Warhammer to get away from the endless DEI and culture war BS. For two, the Imperium by design isn't supposed to be a place where different sexes, races and beliefs are equal. Its tyrannical to what used to he a degree of parody.

Instead of breaking the lore with female space marines GW should expand the Sisters of Battle. The Imperial faith takes many forms that reflect the cultures of the planets they are on. It stands to reason that this could be reflected in the equipment and fighting styles of the Sororitas from these planets. As an example, a heavily Norse or Celtic inspired culture would produce Sisters with a very different aesthetic. Unfortunately this would probably not satisfy the activists who want female space marines. The activists want the poster boys faction to reflect their political motivations. I think pandering to this small activist minority will harm 40K. I seriously doubt sales would improve. If anything sales would probably drop due to hobbyists on the other side of the argument leaving the hobby. Personally I think people should build and paint their minis how they want. It is a big galaxy with plenty of room for unique chapters with divergent lore. I don't want politics in my Friendly Local Game Store and I absolutely don't want it at my gaming table. On X I often see nicely painted female space marine models. Many of them cross my boundaries when they are painted in pride colors. To me it is sad that truly gifted painters are so saddled with their politics that they have to make these painting choices. I think it is really shitty that I would likely be labelled a transphobe or bigot of some sort for not wanting female space marines. Again inserting real life politics into the hobby. Sad that a loud and militant few can throw so much division and hate onto my hobby.
