Thanks for taking the time to post your setup. Perfect for a cheap way to make your own shot. No it’s not perfect but for a guy that just wants to experiment it is a very economical way to do it. I already have a lead pot so I’ll give it a try.

Its really easy and effective. Shot makers are way to expensive for me.

😂😂 I shoot trap, but just for fun and I do believe I'm going to use this idea, local shop has two lead furnaces similar to that. Might buy up their molds too while I'm at it.

Definitely for me. I don't own any of this equipment but at least a decent amount of powder, lead and a few primers. Gonna let this one be my motivation to try something for that odd shot.

Looks like it might work for making “weight-shot” - for pattern-weights, etc.

Casting shot requires everything to go in your favor. I haven't done any since soon after this video Becuase it was cold. The shot would drop in a gear drop shape. I later did more but it was alot hotter outside and they were a nice round shape. Everything needs to be perfect... Even with the super expensive shot makers.

@@northernwoodsman Yes, I have seen as much. It looks like I need to get some cheap fabric softener, and probably some premade nozzles off of ebay. I think I can do a lot to help keep head pressure consistent by stacking two lee pots. One to keep the melt ready, and the lower one to be the actual dripper. I have both a 4-20 and the smaller pot. The larger one has a spout which is 3/8" rod with a hole in it, rather than a cone. This made it easy to run a die onto and thread 3/8-16"

Great basic setup. Maybe you could come of with some sort of screen to sift the shot through to separate by size👍🏻

Yes, I have a sifter for kitchen use with holes in it. Works great to sort out smaller shot.

What size drill bit did you use to drill that hole in the closed nut? And what other modifications to the nut was required?

Why does it have to hit the metal first ??? why not just the fabric softener

When making shot from towers, like the manufacturers, they drop straight into water because they have time to become a sphere mid air. The way im making them, they need to roll to become a ball before cooling off.

You'd need to sift through it to get exact shot size. And I don't know for bismuth... Never tried

Meaning no disrespect, but if you "can't" show us how your setup actually works, how do we know that it works? How do we know how round the shot is? What alloy do you use? How hard is the shot? Again meaning no disrespect, it's hard to ascribe any credibility to this video without you giving us more information and showing us how your setup works.
@northernwoodsman

Theres no specific alloy. I just use wheel weights.

@@northernwoodsman I'm sure just by watching that it works. For closer distance your pop corn will work too. But moldes for buck shot are not that expensive for larger game and - just in case - for weak astronauts who know everything better and wanna steal your meat. We have to dicide if reality is our friend or enemy. Stay in reality and enjoy, my friend. The world needs strong men there are far too many weak out there.
