I remember when a bag of shot would run about $7.50. Back in the 90's. Lol! My dad started buying shot by the ton for cheaper prices. This was a few yrs back. Have a great day!

Great video, it was very helpful. Ill be shopping a used hot plate from a second hand store to get me started. Im presently doing 41 cal pours for an antique 6 shot revolver and looking to get into sg reloading for bird game. This is the no nonsense least complicated build Ive seen on YT. Looking forward to making my own!cheers!

I love these videos. Thanks for sharing. I don't have a source for wheel weights - do you know what hardness you would aim for if you had to mix your own alloy? I have mostly range scrap and linotype... might have to get one of these drippers some day

@@droberts6579 is that to pure lead, or range scrap at roughly 10-12 bhn? Thanks 👍🇺🇲

@@DummyRound that's pure lead and I assume most range lead is pretty soft unless some of it is hard cast.

The graphite supposedly promotes a more fluid movement of the shot through chokes and such when fired, I was curious myself one day if graphite was a requirement and thats the main purpose of using it that i found.

Since the shot is all inside of the shot cup I really don't see that it makes much difference.

have you ever tried letting it drop through the air further before hitting the tank, might come out more spherical? I"m going to have to do this, $60 a bag is outrageous.

It would have to drop many feet to be hard enough to not deform when it touched down. Commercial shot towers are over 100 ft tall. I am perfectly happy with the roundness of my shot, it shoots as good as commercial shot.. I win as many matches as any one and more than most.

@@adrianphillips2552 you won't be able to run but about six drippers with a 6-inch hot plate.. the worst thing about using the hot plate is it's hard to get the front of the shot pot back close enough to the burner. It's just the way those things are manufacturer the burner is sitting in the middle of the framework.

Hello again sir are your holes drilled through the steel at the front of your machine or do you have drippers in there
@droberts6579
@droberts6579 Жыл бұрын
@@adrianphillips2552 no drippers, I drill straight through the aluminum. Just make sure when you weld on the shot ramp you slow the correct distance for the shot to drop at least 3/8 of an inch , a little more for larger shot. I usually cut a small narrow strip of aluminum bout 3/16 thick by 1/4 wide and tig tack it to the bottom of the shot ramp to get the drop you need.
