I paid $89 for my last 00 Lee mold, plus handles. I thought that was high. I own four 00 buck molds and I can't believe what they sell for now, if you can even find them. I finally learned the secret to making them last- Elvis Ammo's oily rag trick! I still make over 100 lbs of 00 every week with them. Thanks for another entertaining video!

I poured a lead plate to add some weight to my gun safe last week. It was 13"x10"x2". I kid you not, I let that sucker cool for half an hour and it STILL sizzled with a drop of water.

Thanks Wade! A great intro to casting buckshot, which is far to expensive to buy commercially manufactured. Plus it allows for fine tuning your loads, like you have shown us many times. Mike

I’ve been minding to make my own molds with my mini lathe and mini milling machine instead, have yet to get round to it and see if I can at least make a functional design while only paying for raw billet metal in materials. I reckon an inside radius turning tool or a round nose endmill of the right size ought to do it, though it’s very likely that one would need a full sized machine with plenty of horse to do it with an endmill... Alternatively there’s the CNC mill option, but that’s just way beyond the pale for a bullet mold...

You would be better off using tallow. As an apprentice many years ago lead pipe was often used to connect toilet pans to the sewer. A brass collar hAd to be joined to it and we always used tallow for a flux as we wiped the joint.

I load for home defense, so I use dead soft lead & air cool the Buckshot and Slugs that I cast & I leave the shards on & tend not to use buffer because I want the payload to spread & tear open what it hits. (My favorite is your 1 in 9 by the way (out of a short barreled open choke '97 Winchester.)) All y'all hunters use the harder wheel weights & water drop your projectiles & even tumble them & buffer your buckshot and full choke your long barreled Shotguns for performance & get nice tight groups out past 50 & 75 yards! You get one shot stops on Deer & Hogs; I hope I never have to shoot anything but paper with these nasty loads. We are 'same Brothers from different Mothers'.

I find that if i leave about 1/4"to 1/2" of lead in the bottom of the cast iron 6 quart pot that the lead melts much faster when i go to do another batch. Full contact with the heat gets things going faster. Another trick i do is have my 6 quart pot on my turkey fryer sitting a few feet away from my casting bench where my Lee pots are. When the Lee pot gets down about half way i just reach over and get a ladle of melted lead and top off the Lee pot. I usually do my casting for the year one weekend in the fall and I go through a lot of lead when i do. Thanks for all you do.

Just curios what you shoot with that much triple aught? My hope is that you are: 1 selling it to other hunters, 2 selling it to israel to clear the tunnels quickly, 3 are the world's most deadly deer hunter, 4 selling it to the Texas immigration patrol, 5 marketing it to Russia as 10% for the big guy but homemade product to drive a bidding war, or 6 actually doing something useful and killing invasive species incessantly with it. Would love to know?

Hi there ! Let me add a little something....but very important. I noticed the condition of your molds in stage one. Not...very clean, and above all....not preheated !! At the moment of pouring the lead they must be heated in order to expell all moisture AND remaining air pockets ! The probability of existing air pockets may result in an "explosion" of lead, very dangerous for your health !
