We are lucky enough to be on the Encore in September for an Alaskan cruise in the Haven and hoping it doesn't get cancelled!

My wife and I recently took its sister ship Bliss and definitely enjoyed Waterfront on deck 8.

Yes, the waterfront is a lovely area. I can imagine it being less busy than the pool deck on a warm weather cruise as well!

Thank you for your Encore Alaska series! I am looking at the same cruise for 2025 and as a diehard DCL fan I’m terrified to venture away (but also am not about that 17k cost!) especially on a mega ship! I hope we can manage the crowds and the food expectations 😬

17k!!!! 😲 Disney sure does make us work for its love, doesn't it! We recently sailed with Royal Caribbean and would recommend looking into them for Alaska too (not positive the cost comparison with NCL). No matter what, you're ideally off the ship A LOT in Alaska, so in our opinion, the ship doesn't matter quite as much.

Hi guys 👋🏻 love your videos !! Thank you for all the info 😉 We are super excited that we will be going to Alaska this coming October 16-23 on the NCL Encore as well I was wondering if all 3 MDR Manhattan room, Savor and Taste serve breakfast, lunch and dinner ?… And if so, do you remember at what time they started serving breakfast ?? Trying to plan accordingly with all the excursions

Though we never tried breakfast or lunch in the main dining (Taste and Savor only), they served from 7-9 in the morning and 12-2. We just preferred the convenience of the buffet and The Local. Have a FANTASTIC trip!

Yessss we are super excited & definitely looking forward to it… We just booked our excursions yesterday “ doing the helicopter glacier tour “ as well but in Skagway, praying for good weather 🙏🏻…now working on the specialty restaurants reservations … too bad we can’t book the show or shows don’t know if “ kinky boots “ will be showing then or not … ciao 4 now 🙂

We went at the end of August and we had beautiful weather. It ranged from 40-75 degrees (we only felt chilly when sailing to the glacier) and it only rained for about 10 mins the whole trip (when we were in Ketchikan). We vlogged the entire trip if you're interesting in seeing our experience!

@@ThisHappyPlace_ Nice video! I noticed that the Garden Cafe was self serve again, people are serving themselves which is a positive and I also loved the ending of the beautiful sunset.

I'm travelling on the Encore Alaska cruise with a friend in Apr 2025 (long way off but a great deal inc air from Toronto), and we each have a Studio solo cabin so we'll have access to the Studio Lounge. It's for solo travelers but wondered if you had a chance to check that out?

not a ton of hot tubs for all those people. were they packed or was it too cold? is the pool heated? what time of year did you go? did u freeze? lol

Definitely limited amount of hot tubs and there were always people in them. I didn't see many people use the pool and they are heated. We were there end of August and some of the days were pretty chilly, especially while the ship was moving, but we were never frozen per se.

"That chandelier"! LOL! Made by Tampax? The Observation Lounge is the best bit of that class NCL ship and fantastic for cruising the Inside Passage! I wish they had an Observation Lounge on the Disney fleet! Thank you for the tour! BTW, Macaron rhymes with bone. Similar to French president Macron! Onda is Italian for wave. The O in Italian is always pronounced like the O in oh no! Ohn-dah.

Oh wow. Really got the Onda pronunciation wrong lol. I just copied how everyone was saying it on the ship. I know nothing of the Italian language so thanks for the lesson!

@@ThisHappyPlace_ You may have heard the song "Mille Lune, Mille Onde" by Andreas Boccelli. It's a lovely song! Italian pronunciation is very easy because it is very consistent! A quick lesson: A is pronounced AH as in father E is pronounced AY as in day I is pronounced EE as in Gucci, Pucci, Fiorucci! O is OH NO! U is like the U in tune C or CC followed by E or I is a TCH sound, as in Versace or see Gucci above! CH followed by E or I is a K sound like conchiglie pasta! (con-chi-gli-e=Kohn-kee-lee-ay) GN is a NY sound (ñ in Spanish!) like in lasagna and gnocchi (nyoh-kee) G is soft when followed by E or I GH is a hard G like Ghirardelli (Ghee-rar-daily) Roll the R's! GLI is its own syllable and is pronounced LEE, so Gigli is pronounced Jee-Lee not giggly LOL! Consigliere (Con-si-gli-e-re)=Kohn-see-lee-ay-ray Z and ZZ is TZ like pizza or add an ah in the middle and it's piazza! SS is an S sound but S is Z like the city of Pisa or Rosa! In general, syllables in Italian follow a consonant-vowel, consonant-vowel format like in Topolino (To-po-li-no)=Toh-Poh-lee-noh (not Top-oh-) Palo (Pa-lo) = Pah-loh. A little practice and you'll sound like a pro when reading Italian words or ordering Italian food! When you go on a Mediterranean cruise and stop by Rome, the nearby cruise port is at Civitavecchia (Ci-vi-ta-ve-cchi-a) Chee-vee-tah-vay-kee-ah!

Is the district brew house, cellars wine bar, mojito bar, and whiskey bar included in the standard free at sea adult beverages package or is that À la carte?

They were included! Of course, tasting events and specialty drinks may be extra, but we didn't pay anything for all the drinks we had at those locations!
