Some of you might remember in 2021, i was attempting to make Nick Knacks style series on PBS. But truth is, i canceled it cause i didn't have the time to commit to such a huge project, and also i didn't wanna sit through stuff like Cailou or Teletubbies. so this vid is making up for that. hope you like it.

Mister Rogers Neighborhood is my all time favorite tv show I love everything about it from the sets to the puppetry to the puppets to the characters to the locations to the subjects he talked about. Fred Rogers was a one of a kind human being and he is missed over 20 years after his death RIP Fred Rogers (1928 - 2003) you are missed over 20 years later and your legacy lives on

As someone a few years younger than you, my core PBS Kids memories are mainly from the 2000s, during the first few years that they had Dot & Dash as the mascot of the block. Because of this, I primarily remember watching programs such as Sesame Street (back when it started to become very segment-heavy), Barney & Friends (mainly the late 90s/early 2000s era and the Selena Gomez & Demi Lovato episodes), Arthur, ZOOM, Caillou (yeah yeah I know), Teletubbies, Clifford the Big Red Dog, the 2000s Berenstain Bears cartoon where Michael Cera voiced Brother, Postcards from Buster, & Fetch with Ruff Ruffman. Also, in school sometimes, I remember occasionally watching Reading Rainbow, Magic School Bus, and especially Bill Nye via the TV cart with the VCR attached

I remember PBS kids in the 2000s. I was born in 2006, so I remember this channel for a long time growing up shows like Arthur, Sesame Street, Clifford the big red dog, Cyberchase, Super Why, Caillou, Wild Kratts,Thomas & Friends, and of course, Barney & Friends particularly their hit entertainment years I also remember some of the same shows that were on Sprout As well as other shows that I never seen on PBS such as Zooboomafoo, Dragon Tales, The Berenstain Bears and so on. I also remember that they used to play the use your imagination song back in the day good times. Nowadays whenever they stream shows like Barney they altered and removed certain segments such as the Barney says segments from Season 7,8 and 12, The helping hand with growing children segments the let's play with Barney segments and the Barney travel book segments. If there was like a box set for the hit entertainment era, then I wanted to have those segments featured on them if they had those masters somewhere along the previous eras and I wanted though segments and some of the other things that were originally aired on PBS television. Overall PBS kids is an awesome children's network and it's definitely a channel that I definitely will remember.

I think I was probably the right age to have experienced nearly all the shows mentioned in this video. Pretty much everything up until “World Girl” and “Martha Speaks” was part of my PBS experience growing up. One show you neglected to include was “Redwall”. My family never owned cable till much later on, so PBS was pretty much the only channel we had access to watching, and “Redwall” was the right show to scratch that itch I had for more darker, dramatic story-driven cartoons. The book series it’s based off are also really great.

For one Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow were my 3 shows I grew up with. I know my mom or dad probley put me down in front of the TV as an infant and started watching Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers in their 13th season but I wouldn't be able to tell you any of the episodes during those first 5 years of my life. It wasn't till at least 89 into the 90's that I remember certain episodes from SS and Mr. Rogers. They were already aware of being well known by this point in my life. Reading Rainbow I can almost recall watching it from the beginning but still only a few shows here and there. I watched these show till I was in my teens. I even watched Barney and Friends during my teenage years and I always felt weird watching especially when my dad would come home from work or happen to walk into the living room. I would immediately change the channel but sometimes he would sneak in without me knowing and by the time I would change the channel he would say, "Why are you watching that shit?!" Which I would say, "Oh I was just channel surfing and happen to land on that channel when you happened to be in the room" but he knew. It was at least when I got into my 20's that I stopped watching any of them. I would see them when my nieces would watching certain shows like Dragon Tales and Teletubbies. It wasn't till the late 2000's that I remember seeing this one show which was Between the Lions and really got into it! I really did enjoy it and it felt like one of my older shows that I grew up with. Got into that show and started recording re-runs and new episodes. Plus it being made from fellow Sesame Street alumni also had part in it. Yes I was an adult watching a kids show as you can see but sometimes things just catch your eye and begin to enjoy it even if it wasn't aimed at you. That's my PBS story of growing up with my shows. Thanks again 47 Cartoon Guy for another great video of nostalgia!

OMG, Thanks for making this. I grew up on PBS in the 90s and early 2000s. Unfortunately I didn't have cable until 2004. My era of PBS kids was the 90s up to 2004. I felt envious of kids who had Nick & Cartoon Network growing up. The other kids network I grew up on were Fox Kids and Kids WB. But I give PBS credit for making me a very cultured person. Loved Shining Time Station, Wishbone, Arthur, Magic School Bus and Noddy. Some episodes even dealt with tough subjects. They don't make them like they use to anymore.

I'm surprised none of the subscriptions hadn't even upload more PBS Kids (PTV Park) on KCET through the years program and pledge breaks. We want to see more about them, so I would like to see the PTV Park program break on KCET from 1998 features the PTV Park promo or the bumper for Shining Time Station on KCET with the extended music video in long version in just over a minute and 30 seconds (with lots of footage from seasons 2 and 3 with Thomas story episodes). It is from after an old rerun of Barney entitled If The Shoe Fits... from season 3 before The Puzzle Place as the new upload. Please. I want to see that. I've been complaining about that for years. And I mean, I like Shining Time Station on KCET. It was wonderful. Then, the compilation of KCET Kids Club pledge drives during the late 20th century, maybethat I really saw ever since I was a kid. And in the next uploads from 1999/2000 season follow by Captain Infinity promos during 2000s program breaks and pledge drives.

I wasn't born until July 1997, but I do remember the vast majority of these. Even though I never saw Carmen San Diego, The Puzzle Place, Music Pizza or Kino's Storytime. The second of these I first heard of around ten years ago, as I realized it still aired in reruns until March 31, 2000. When it was replaced by "Between the Lions" the following week. However there is a similar story involving another show with puppets that wasn't mentioned here called "Wimzie's House", which originally aired in Canada in the mid-'90s. It is know to have aired in reruns on PBS between '97 and 2001, but I'm often conflicted as to if I remember seeing it as a kid, or if it was aired on the affiliates I regularly watched (WNET, CPTV, WLIW). Even when revisiting several episodes of it as an adult, I often found myself asking "Did I see this back then?". Because there were at least two other shows involving puppets of some kind on PBS that I saw as a fairly young child, but I can't seem to figure out what they were...

Before watching one second of this vid I just want to say thank you. I don't recall seeing anybody making a retrospective on PBS's kid-targeted content which definitely contributed to the 90s and most of the 2000s being the golden age for child entertainment that they were. Shining Time Station was my jam! It's kind of a forgotten gem these days but is the show that introduced America to Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends which I'm still a huge fan of.

Book Worm was a small series which had Barbara and Book Worm reading the story of the day, where as Book Bug made a live interpretation of kid's books. Both were interesting. Then similar to Book Bug, the UK did a series of Look and Read where a book was turned into a story, some over 5-10 episodes each.

I mainly grew up watching the live action shows such as Sesame Street, Between the Lions, Zoboomafoo, Mister Rogers Neighborhood, and Reading Rainbow. I think the live action shows were much more appealing to me. Even Barney and Teletubbies had some value and charm to it.

I think you forgot to name a show that never aired again on PBS. Theodore Tugboat. Among other PBS shows I was raised on were Arthur, Clifford the red dog, Wishbone, Between Lions, Zoom, Thomas and friends, Jay Jay jetplane, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, Barney, Zoboomafoo, Bill Nye and Sesame Street were all the best. It made up my childhood. I loved PBS so much when I was in Preschool up until the 4th through 6th grade. I'd do anything to go back to those days again!

What was that one show with that creepy "We're in the animal family" song? It was part of the Saturday morning block and was on at a super early time slot, I think it was on in the late 90s. There was another song about Owls having great big eyes and there were super condescending hosts a man and a woman who totally talked down to kids. "Look at the leopard do you see his spots?" Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? It's driving me crazy that I can't find anything about it. I'm starting to think maybe it didn't exist. There is another one that was on in the mid 90's that may or may not have been the same show with a creepy bunny puppet called Leelabee who had a garden

Cyberchase, the Book of Virtues, Between the Lions, The Magic Schoolbus, Arthur, Redwall, and of course Liberty Kids. It might be my bias talking but when theses show went off it seemed that the quality of the shows dropped dramatically. But Molly of Denali fills me with hope!

Have you heard of a kids show costumed character that used to be on in the early 2000s. (Not sure if it’s PBS or WLIW21). The character is an orange animal (rabbit or kangaroo or something) in a green suit that hung with live action children and kids screamed his name and ran up to hug him (similar to Barney). At night, he talked with the Moon. And No it wasn’t bear in the big blue house.
