Hey been researching and it seems your description of the bottom of transmission shaft is the most accurate to my problem at this time. Rav4 2011 4wd, keyless button starter with backup camera and GPS built in. Moms hits a pothole on front driver side says it was about a 6/7-10 scale of scary. OBII says it is a code P0705. Not a car person but know how to fix stuff. Symptom: When starting car, the digital dash shows in in park (P) with back cam showing and reverse highlighted as well , even though it is in (P). Even when driving it sometimes shows on reverse with back cam active. I checked under the car no dial to be found I am thinking maybe it is at the bottom after this video. Auto-LSD is blinking nonestop with the Check Engine light. Sometimes - the push button is lighting green when the car is off but when pressed to start car it is no longer green. It is supposed to be the other way around I think. I checked the Neutral Switch it seems fine. I haven't taken it off yet it was a pain for me to locate. It was below the battery and I had to access it from under the car. I replugged all of the connectors. The car drives normally, nothings is amiss besides the gear and the dashboard+back cam not aligning properly. No leak, all the gears are smooth changing from PRNDL. I hope to have individuals with similar or knowledge of this problem to connect with me. My mom is the only one working and supporting the house and I want to do my part to help her to be able to do it. Thanks

What if the park shift is reversing

Installing shift tube bushings would help tighten up that shifter.

Could the shifter indicator thing be the possible reason why a 2000 to 2005 model Ford explorer pickup truck to roll backwards in park?

My Dodge 02 ram 1500 when I put it in park it feels like its not going all the way and locking in, almost like there is slop on the linkage or bushing so it doesn't bring it all the way, makes me nervous like its going to pop into reverse, haven't found the mechanical pictures of it yet. LOL

That's what the handbrake is for, too stop vehicles from rolling away when the parking pawl fails.

Hi my mother in-law has a chry 2001 and her car doesn't go into park it stops at reverse and now it doesn't even reverse but it's able to drive tho

I just replaced the trans in my 06 explorer the old one went into every gear and the one I just put in don't want to go into park it acts like its in a bind 5r55s trans any help

I can put it in drive neutral reverse first second but I can't put it in a gear if it was already in there it won't go up the shaft will go down but not up

Mine moves alright but it's sloppy and has to be jiggled to lock in on drive. Also shifting into reverse sometimes I have to do it twice to get it in. Not often though. Edit:2006 f150 with center console shift setup.

I drive a manual. I’m the gear selector.

I have that same problem

Step 1 - pay attention when you're behind the wheel of any vehicle. No one should need to look at the indicator to know that they're in PARK. It's at the end of the shifter path. It's a no brainer if you pay attention.
