You actually do have a right to tell someone that whoever lives there must be on the lease. If you rent a room or an efficiency, you can definitely tell someone what the terms are. If someone is just visiting, that's one thing. But when you set terms, and they are agreed to, it is what it is. My parents rented an apt to a single mom via section 8 and I believe the state does not allow her to have boyfriends or other adults living with her because they are footing the bill for the apt. Either way, she's no victim. She got a place in Brooklyn for 1k, moved her man in and then found a bullshit technicality to live at the place 6 months rent free which is absolutely abusive. Courts shouldn't have that much power to allow someone to live off of someone for 6 months. Meanwhile everybody is criticizing the defendant, when her ass is the shady one

The ONLY acceptable evidence in that case would have been a doctor's report saying that there were roaches in the ear, and maybe (just maybe) a video showing a roach in the ear. But ANYTHING outside of that wouldn't be evidence. Including a picture, since they could be doctored. The plaintiff said "No" and that's all that matters.

The plaintiff wasted her time even bringing that nonsense roach story into court. The plaintiff should have just stuck with the facts, and she probably could have walked away with more than $1000.

You don't seem to realize that BOTH litigants have already submitted their FULL complaints in writing to the court weeks before they ever get to court. So, the judge knows the FULL story already. Sometimes you'll hear her say, "You never mentioned that in your complaint." or "You didn't say that in your response." Or sometimes she'll read right off a complaint to have the litigant explain the "new" story being told in court. So, in this case, the judge already knew that there was no proof for the roach story, but she wanted the plaintiff to just say that. But the plaintiff was never going to do that. You need to understand how courts work. Go listen to some Supreme Court cases, they're free to listen to on-line. Then, maybe, you'll understand what judges are trying to get at.
