The HTC Vive Flow is one of the most impressive and weirdest VR headsets that I've ever used. This tiny VR headset weighs less than half a pound and is smaller than my phone yet still delivers 3K video and high frame rate. It is super portable and great at play 360 VR media. Unfortunately, the software leaves a lot to be desired, is Android only, and has a lot of corners cut. I hope you enjoy this HTC Vive Flow review and hands on testing.

I just want normal, current gen, first person games to have the most basic VR headset function where you can simply look around in 3d in the gaming world. Examples: Warzone, Fortnite, Battlefront, Splitgate, Apex, etc. I don't want goofy "VR" games. I don't need special controls beyond a controller or mnk. I just want to use my dualshock and be able to spin my head and look around in King's Canyon on Apex. I don't need 8K 256fps.

You'll get motion sickness, especially if the FPS is low. It's quite jarring when your character moves but you don't in the real world, or when the game freezes or you get low FPS. It would not be very enjoyable for long. For the resolution, lower it is, the more of a screen door effect you can get. It can make small text hard to read as well.

I'm a big fan of the realistic review presented here! Being a gamer, I did not know there was a market for a headset like this, but there definitely is. After watching this review, and asking the frequent travelers I know, I see the demand is much higher than I imagined.

I think HTC has a hit on its hands with the Vive Flow, it’s just maybe it needs to be really heavily market for casual VR users and media consumption instead. Also lower the price just a smidgen and make up for it in the long run with more better casual VR content.

This headset seems weird. Who is it for? The specs are decently impressive, and the features are kinda bad. It just sort of seems to miss the mark for the hardcore AND casual vr fans

Vive flow was a really disappointing reveal. If all you wanted to do was watch 180/360/3d videos, the quest does it cheaper and at a higher resolution. Only reason to get this over the quest 2 is if you are one of the many people who don't want to use a facebook device. And at 499 you might as well get a G2 which has both a much higher resolution at 4k and higher refresh rate at 90hz.

I will believe you if you can point me to a video where 360 footage is seen in landscape mode on a quest 2. Also like to see how one can zoom in/out in a 360 video... There is indeed a market for non-gamers but untill now i'm still searching for the right thing.

Very informative thanks - very very short sighted for HTC not to include PC desktop capability, if they want business adoption they need that as a minimum, and most business people I know use iPhones as well

Obviously the quest 2 is better for gaming, but I can't help but feel like this product will fall short. I genuinely don't think straight content consumption like Netflix or youtube can go full-time VR. Unless, like mentioned with the flow, you intend to use it for travelling, which is cool I guess. Perceived privacy on a plane or train is nice. But in your room, watching content in VR is just like watching it on a TV, except with extra steps and more weight on my face.

Vr is great for community watching and even though it is similar to watching TV at home, it does feel like you are at the theaters with the vr. I'm going to watch the super bowl on it in a public room tomorrow to see what it's likem

@@Dwilder812 maybe it's because I have a big TV already, 55", but it just feels like pure sacrifice when the resolution isn't great. Mind you, I don't have a PC so I can't do any of this through Link with improved visuals. I agree that group watching is cool in VR, but group watching isn't how we watch most of our stuff, at least the people I know. I dunno, I just don't think it can usurp a flat panel in it's current state. I think it needs a lot less weight and a lot more battery life to be a real replacement option.

2D movies makes no sense to watch on a vr headset if u have a big tv, but 180/360 3d movies do. It feels almost like being there.

Lame, it should be able to tether to a mobile and use the specs of that phone to further render vr. In other words, the better your phone the better your VR graphics. So you don't have to throw away your standalone vr glasses when a new vr headset with better Qualcomm chip comes out. Good for e-waste and good for your wallet 😊 Just like a PC gamer that upgrades their GPU to play better games.

After using HTC Vive for 4 years they couldn't pay me enough to ever take any more their garbage. Controllers break way too easy there's issues with with the controllers they've never addressed and at $125.00 per controller no thank you. No more HTC live

Don't waste your money, they are crap, heavy no power supply and need a phone as a controller which takes far too long to connect and is inconsistent, walk away!!!!
