it was good! although nearing the end were Toranaga "accepts defeat". I think first watch, I was kinda thinking like "huh"? Why is John walking away? Why is everyone just accepting defeat thru out the whole episode? Idk I suppose maybe I was expecting some sorta immediate epic twist were he comes out winning in the last few seconds of the episode. But according to a lot of watchers, looks like I'll just have to be patient lol. cuz it seems toranaga & blackthorn might have some secret plan up their sleeves. But hey what do I know? Im just a old whore- I mean JerzeyBoyz reaction fan. And my stick of time is finished 💁‍♂

Dude, the Willow Word mistress reveal Toranaga's plan , maybe you were distracted. The guard was low on porpuse, probably to lure Saeki to act, the main Toranaga Army is likely already coming to make a pinch move on Saeki, thats the plan (i think)

Did he not lose a lot of his army in the earthquake? When he showed up with Buntaro that was a pretty big force, assumed that was his whole army

@@JerzeyBoyz Thats what Toranaga reply to the mistress. But the whole thing is implying to be a lie, that's why the mistress want her own Willow World in Edo, she probably know his army is waiting or coming

Yeah but we saw his army haha and then saw it get crushed in the earthquake, so does he have thousands more that no one knows about?

@@JerzeyBoyz yeah, buntaro asked for permission to escape to Edo (modern day tokyo, which toranaga is the lord of) to rally up the rest of his retainers/bannermen/samurai, which are no doubt still spread out across the neighbouring counties and estates. Even with all those men in edo accounted for, I doubt that will be the true entirety of his force, as that is just one part of his lands and there are definitely bannermen whom the call has not reached or did not muster for their lord

Why did Toranaga say to Anjin that he needed to carry his swords instead of his pistols? He's carrying his swords all the time, and there's not a single shot where he's carrying his pistols..

The way blackthorn abruptly left during the surrender and then not seen for the rest of the episode (that I remember) is suspicious. Yes he doesn’t understand their culture and is upset that he can’t leave but it just seemed too brash even for blackthorn. Also, I think the surrender is part of a bigger plan.

Saeki was to give the council's order to Nagakado to commit seppuku, and in a way, Nagakado did commit seppuku in front of Saeki

Yea, unfortunately the whole idea of seppuku is to die by your own terms honourably. He gave him that opportunity but he decided to die "honourably" by inanimate rock.

Seppuku means to cut your own tummy. Not just kill yourself and only samurai can do so.

The ending for Shōgun is a pun.The stupidest character died hitting his head on a rock. Ishi atama 'rock head' is a Japanese idiom for stupid and stubborn.
