People always talk about Novak’s backhand and how good it is. Would you rather have Novak’s forehand or his backhand if you could only choose one? -Jason Frausto

Really? I always think his forehand is the textbook. Really better than new generation's heavily wrist reliant technique TBH.

Forehand. Forehand is the primary weapon. Even Djokovic's forehand is a better shot than his backhand, no matter how good the backhand is. Ask Nishikori whether a great backhand paired with a mediocre forehand is the way to go.

Novak has mastered all the shots on a GrandMaster level. The question is what's he gonna use more on a given day.

Great stuff Jason! Because of Novak's incredible movement and footwork his ability to improvise his forehand (i.e. flattening it out, heavy top spin, etc...) is also very underrated. His movement and athleticism allows him to be able to crowd the baseline and drive the ball off the ground.

My son is a Jr. Tennis player, and has this same forehand that DOES NOT fully extend post impact. I’ve mention this to him along with other coaches but he’s been grooving it for so long it’s hard to break. He’s now #2 in the country for U14. Another coach mentioned it this morning, I said how I took it easy with trying to break him out if it because I noticed many of the top 100 players have this same “windshield wipe” stroke that doesn’t extend fully. I said this knowing I had studied Joker’s forehand before. What are your thoughts, coach?

I would also mention that having a steady head matters. It's almost like everything rotates around the head. Take a look at the best golfers in the world to hit a golf ball. The golf swing and a baseball swing is very similar to a tennis swing . You cannot have many variables. And by having a steady head, that puts everything else in place. Djokovic's head barely moves while rotating.
