Rugby while doing SS? A person would literally be spending all of their time training, shoving food food in their mouth, sleeping, and sitting on the toilet....

I fucking love Mark so much. He is the goat to me. He helped me how to squat after COUNTLESS trainers and tips from dozens of insane good squatters like Dave Tate, Max Aita, Louie Simmons couldnt do shit for me. He breaks it down and makes sense on every level and his level of honesty and realness is genuine. I dont care if he is abrasive, he is just being honest. Iam the same way. People dont like me/us for it but Iam just telling you like it is. You WONT get up and cook your eggs and oatmeal and take care of yourself like you should, which is what separates the men from the boys and the real lifters from the fakes.

Back when I was in high school sports, I had no clue what I was doing. I could have been a much better athlete if I ate like I should have and trained the way I should have like in starting strength.

That's just your ego talking. The reason you were not a better athlete in high school was...you just weren't a good athlete! You didn't have the genetics to be good. No kids in high school know about this shit....so the playing field is level. And the fact you didn't do better was you just weren't that good...you can't hide athletic ability and no amount of eating or strength training is going to overcome your lack of athletic ability. Rip would agree.

Yes, I was dumb enough to play rugby. Thanks for the reference. Was able to add 5 to 10 lbs per week to my squat per week. Recovery sucks at an advanced age. I have to space squats and dead’s every 10-12 days to recover properly.

Thoughts on replacing squats with reverse lunge and barbell rows with weighted chinups in starting strength? The direct carry over it had to baseball is too good to ignore and I still want to run the 3x5 while in off season
@superposition9497
@superposition9497 5 жыл бұрын
Baseball players checking in! You are very correct about the chin up. Weighted Chinup at a total weight (body weight included) of 200 lbs is key to throwing 90.

LoL, Kids eating enough and going to sleep at night? Nah, they'd rather drink, bang and eat crap food. They call it "YOLO", I believe. They think that's "living." By the time they get it, they're no longer kids. So I understand why you enjoy coaching older people so much.

There's a reason there is not a single collegiate or professional athletic program in the world that will go near these guys. Take anything these guys say with regards sports training with a huge grain of salt.
@abiriax
@abiriax 4 жыл бұрын
the basic point it you can't from what i've seen, their programme is too demanding to do sports with. It's a real shame, as I play college tennis and really like it, and because i'm just starting it's not affecting my performance yet. I'm 38 though and know that i'll have to choose one and eat well to recover properly.
