As a Mark Ruffalo fan, I felt bad about his character getting humiliated by the four magicians again and again. That's why I found this twist so awesome. While I only liked this movie (which does have a number of flaws), this twist alone made me LOVE this movie.

Dylan was so clever. Pretending that he was someone trying to track down the 5th Horseman when he was the 5th Horseman all along. Truly great magicians have very carefully laid out plans to make an illusion and he made the great illusion that he was totally clueless when all the while, Thaddeus was the clueless one. Thaddeus thought that he was always 1 step ahead but he was actually 2 steps behind.

Dont be confused. At this point in time thadeus doesnt know a thing. He is clueless that this is his bestfriend's son Dylan Shrike. Why? Dylan after his dad died sooner his mother also died due to depression. He is an orphan and since then created this persona of having revenge to everything that made his life miserable. He planned every step of the way since his teenage life and cut every loose ends that still ties him up to dylan shrike. That's why Thadeus said to Dylan in now you see me 2 while they are both aboard the plane to china that "the greatest longest magic ever created" Thadeus ofcourse researched hard enough on who is dylan rhodes really is while he was in prison.

I've heard plenty of people say this ending made no sense. I'll admit it would help if they gave a few more subtle hints throughout the film but he's a magician, of course he'd be able to be the main guy chasing after the four horsemen and be the fifth horseman. That's the whole point of magic tricks, they're planned ages in advance and the person performing them is often very good at knowing how to conceal anything that would make the performance obvious. To be honest, the reaction to the plot twist is pretty similar to a lot of reactions to magic tricks 'Oh it's obviously camera trickery', 'Oh he can't be the main villain, he was the guy going after them.' It's kind of the whole point of magic tricks that there's a physical solution to them and not camera trickery. Or in the case of this plot twist, the resolution makes sense and isn't just the writer making it up as they go along. That said, some slightly more obvious hints would've been helpful so it was the last person we'd expect but make more sense to people when he was revealed.

The secret of a good magic trick: It's completely possible, though it intentionally seems otherwise. But more importantly, It's never believable. Seeing isn't believing, due to the human nature to question. Believing something, thinking you understand it, knowing that it's possible, accepting it, is seeing. That's what magic is, and why a thing seems magical. Magic isn't the ability to do the impossible, it's the ability to do the seemingly-impossible. It's the ability to show someone something they don't believe. That is, until you show it to them enough that they start to believe it. But then, of course, you can just figure out another magic trick.

“Somebody so prepared to lose, that they wouldnt even be a suspect when the trick is done” I, like most people, thought it was Morgan freeman, Alfred but then I knew it was the Girl that randomly appeared out of her desk job, liked magic, and didn’t try to stop them. Boy, was I wrong. When this quote above was said, I started putting it together. And when he vanished, mind blown

Lol this movie is great 😂 also Dylan was acting to the horseman as if he was not in the eye. Thaddeus was acting to Dylan as if he was not in the eye. Who's gonna be acting to Thaddeus? Did Lionel shrike really die? 😉😉😉
@charlesburgess4511
@charlesburgess4511 2 жыл бұрын
The clip gives a likely explanation as to what's happening: it's been established that Thaddeus had taken to exposing the actions behind magic and of the Eye to garner fame, which in turn ruined some of his fellow members lives, angering the inner circle for breaking the tenants of magic that they follow. Thaddeus' whole frameup and arrest from allying with Tressler to destroy the horsemen (new recruits for the Eye) could easily be seen as a reprimand for his hubris, carried out through the son of Lionel Shrike, who Thaddeus doesn't realise is a mid-ranking member of the Eye, hence why he was told that his ego was blinding him. Dylan's theory talk could easily have been his briefing provided by the Inner Circle, detailing what he needs to do and banking on his own perception of Thaddeus' role in his father's death, but witholding the info that Thaddeus was a Senior member of the Eye, as many of the Eye not knowing who each other were bar the inner circle. It's a complex explaination based on scenes in this movie and the sequel, but it is the best in-universe explaination of what this scene is truly about.

It wasn't to hard to figure out if you think about it, there were only a few major characters who could be suspects, dylan, French girl (forget her name) and Morgan Freemans character. Freeman was very unlikely considering his character. The french girl was possible and so was dylan, so there was only 4 possible outcomes 2 being very unlikely (the other unlikely one is a new character) so it's not that surprising.

I was telling everyone that it is the FRENCH LADY. Then when this scene appeared on our screen I WAS REALLY (YOU KNOW, THE GIRL WHO CAN'T MOVE AND NO WORDS COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH AND KEEP ON THINKING OH WAIT HOW? NO WAY!) I am that lady who is so MADALDAL, MABUNGANGA while watching . I am telling all my thoughts while watching. I am saying my opinion "If I was her, If I was him, If I was there I would do this or do that." I am expressing all of my reactions EACH AND EVERY SCENE. (Sad, happy, thrilled, inlove, mad, serious, crying etc) But this SCENE MADE ME SHUT UP.
