The footage of everyone crawling up the steps of the Capitol gets me every time. Just heartbreaking they even had to do that when the people in power could’ve just listened.

@Acid Trip why are you so cruel? We don't ask to be disabled. It isn't our faults. We are doing the best we can to survive. Some of our lives are already hard and people like you come around and make it harder? Why not spread love and peace, why be hateful and bitter. If you hate us, stay off videos about us

I truly thank those before me. 504 and the ADA gave me a life that I deserve , one where I’m allowed accommodations. I thank these ppl with my whole life

My wife and I both have disabilities. We met whilst volunteering at the Disabled Peoples Organisation here in the UK where I now work. We are passionate about the social model of disabilities and independent living. It’s been a journey of a thousand years since the first church alms, let’s hope it’s not another thousand before we full and true integration. Gosh that slope looked terrifying! I presume there are stairs and lifts also available.

Almost no funding is attached to the ADA. To make it work, we need to take it more seriously. Try creating an effective 504 plan for a child who does not qualify for Special Education and then tell the parents and teachers that we can only do things that don't cost anything.

Thank you so much for producing and sharing this. I work with people who have IDDs. We do not call them clients, patients or even residents. We refer to those we support, as People Supported by our entire organization. Advocacy is a DUTY we must all share in support of self determination and self direction. Inclusion, Access and Opportunity for ALL.

I know that even 2 person, who are highly educated, married together, but also have a child who is disabled... So...This is not a GENE matter, Not a choice... So we should give everyone anyone the same opportunity that anyone, everyone have....

Beautiful video. I’m upset that, at least during my public education, we were taught about African American civil rights movements and womens suffrage, but not LGBT and disabled civil rights movements. They deserve that attention in textbooks too.

Disability is too broad of a term and many people who just have a unique kind of personality are seen as disabled. People who are more included just get an ego boost being around someone who is seen as disabled but compassion is too taxing for them

The original into law of disability act was in 1974...Research it....i just hate to see misinformation..when we are not in touch with history...laws...constitution...current affairs..famous people and places...

I’m concerned with the possibility of Trump being re-elected and the GOP pushing Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court that some of the ADA could be in jeopardy. And I say this as someone who is high functioning autistic.

I would be more concerned about what the Biden administration is doing to low income Americans with disabilities especially in sanctuary cities where illegal ailens are being favored over low income Americans in terms of healthcare, jobs , housing and social services.

By your own words these fights have been won. It is easy to say you are fighting racism when it was nearly wiped out. My parents and teachers would not commit to the metric system, but they said not to treat anyone differently this was the seventies. I went to school all over the U.S. 70s-80s race did not usually come up unless a grown up did so. The A.D.A. is great legislation. Are you going to tell me that we have to still improve on it to that I say no enough. The left you sit in the car like an angry spoiled child then cry you are not included.

I am a conservative Christian. My care would cost over 100k a year out of pocket. Yet to qualify for help covering it, assets of myself AND husband need to stay unreasonably low to pay for care for me to do simple things like eat. In public bathrooms, I have to be laid on a baby changing station for my caregiver to pull my pants down. I do not fly because there is a huge risk that my wheelchair will be damaged then I'll be bedridden for who knows how long until it is fixed. Yes, there is STILL work to be done.
