The decision to live with or leave a narcissist is your decision. When you divorce a narcissist, please ensure that you don’t change your decision later, as once you are back in their life, their attack will be more severe and methodologically planned as they come to know that they have been exposed. Divorcing a narcissist is like fighting the devil face to face. Please ensure that you will not argue or threaten or reveal the malignancy to your narcissistic partner. You should be clear about child custody, the law of the state where the divorce happens, and the after-divorce issues. Ensure that you have the required resources and people to support during and after the divorce process. Watch the video to learn more.

Great information and a balanced view as usual, Dr Susan. But suppose one has nothing which can be admitted as evidence? Suppose the abuse has been entirely verbal, emotional and psychological? Please address this also. I can suggest only this- Indian law does have the mental cruelty clause. Write everything down in your journal. Dates. Abuses. Get a good attorney who understands what you are going through. Be courageous; it is never ever too late to get out.

Journaling can help. You can get separation, however, proving him as mentally ill won't be easy. My clients told me that their partner's attorney, warns him/her to be careful about not do any physical abuse, but never warn them about emotional abuse or verbal abuse.

Dr,. Is there any harm in making aware of kids abt the narcissistic behavior of their parent (father or mother),will they b able to understand that?atleast they would know what's going on since they r also a kind of victims or they r witnessing the parent as a victim ..Do we need to get professional help to explain to them?Or can ourselves explain it to them?Can u please do a video how to do it safely considering their psychological well-being.. ..Thank u

It is better to discuss with the kids the unacceptable and problematic behaviour of their narcissistic parent. Once the kids are mature enough (unique for each kid) you can use the technical terms. As a responsible parent you can help them to handle their narcissistic parent effectively.

14 yrs ആയി maam ഞാൻ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു. പക്ഷെ divorce ചെയ്യാൻ എനിക്ക് താല്പര്യം ഇല്ല. കാരണം മക്കൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒരുപാട് ഇഷ്ട്ടപെടുന്നു അവർക്ക് അത് താങ്ങാൻ പറ്റുമോ എന്ന് എനിക്കറിയില്ല ഞാൻ 3അമതും ഗർഭിണിയാണ് ജനുവരിയിൽ delivary ആണ്. ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെയാണ് manage ചെയ്യുക 😔

I have a question. Who can help this malignant narcissist? I agree the victim will run away out of fear. Coz malignant narcissist are soo cruelll.But i feel sorry for them, its coz of their bad childhood right??when we all have/had gud parents, they didnt have it. As a child also they had undergone cruel mental/physical abuses now as grown up also rejected and maybe even punished by court....I agree malignant narcissist activities are so pathetic, cruel and horrifying...but still feel sorry for my educated, handsome husband.....unforutnately he had no gud parents..see hes 40plus...his parents in their old age...these parents will die today/tomorrow..what about him????I can never ever allow him to enter my place, kids wont allow..coz they are the one undergone cruel abuses....but I feel like telling him, I will provide you fud/clothing/shelter...but not welcome to our place never again....oh my god and engineer by profession,handsome, well natured...I agree he was awful behindmy back...yes exactly all the traits as a narcissist....what more need to say, he used to sexually and physically abuse his 4 year old and 8....so you know.............but pretended so well before me, i know exactly everything....but I am just wondering how it would be if I had his devilish parents and himself my wonderful father......his father mother both malignant...omg, since you are a psychologist I can write...you know that better than me...but see what if am the unfortunate to have his parents and himself lucky to had mine...so I feel sorry... all these personality disorders are coz of bad childhood right...just a thought..I wish science develop and help these kinds of adults with unfortunate childhood

Dear Lucia, The unfortunate childhood is created by parents or other powerful people in a child's life. Science has nothing to do with it. What we can do is to create good awareness about healthy parenting so that such personalities are not developed. The design of a child's character and personality is formed at the age of 6 years. We should allow some space for trustworthy others to involve in family matters. When we become micro units as a family kids suffer a lot. Not just kids, the victims of such abusers too. What we need is relatively more open living than the completely withdrawn and closed living.

It is unbelievable you still want to support your husband inspite of him sexually abusing your kids and spiking your food with his excrement. I have been following your comments on a lot of videos. Your story fascinates me. Why does your husband need food clothing and shelter if he is educated and smart? You said, kids won't allow him go be back. Does that mean you are willing to let him back in.? I am of the opinion you should consult a mental coach as soon as possible. Allowing an abuser back into your life could mean a disastrous move.
