Gets beaten to the number 1 jersey by Drinkwater in the first preseason post-Slater because Bellyache didn't think he was fit. Drinky gets injured before the start of the season so Hughesy gets the fullback gig anyways. Gets moved to halfback in round 23 so Papy can play FB. Makes the prelims that year then wins the comp the following year. Made the famous Storm 7 jersey his own. Has been a great halfback since!

I have a solution for the bunker.. have a three person panel with each member given a red and green light. They're given a short amount of time to bounce off each other, but must make a decision within a certain time. Because it's a 3 member panel, you'll get a majority rules decision. That should give a lot more consistency to the process.

Love the pod boys, can’t believe I only stumbled on it recently out of pure luck. I have an idea that is used in a lot of soccer pods I listen to and now there is 17 teams in the comp, the idea could be a good off season video. Get four boys on the pod, a bowl with all 17 teams goes around, first person pulls out a team from the bowl and everyone has to choose a player from that team, bowl gets moved to next person and repeat until you get through all 17 teams. Then listeners judge who has the best team. Obviously everyone will have a starting 13 and 4 bench players. You can either do it from nrl era or all time. If all time may have to swap out the dolphins with another team like north Sydney bears or Wests Magpies. Also players can only be picked once so for arguments sake someone pulls doggies and someone goes with big Willie then Newcastle get pulled out then Willie is off the table (not sure why someone would want to pick Newcastle Willie though lol), just an idea for some shits and giggles regards love the pod keep it up

Regarding golden point, in the NHL extra time goes from 5v5 to 3v3. Would you be for or against dropping from 13v13 to 9v9 in golden point to get more attacking creativity to end the game?

I think one of the issues in the bunker is refs in there don't know how to interpret the images they get. They don't grasp its 25 frames a second and the parallax effect of the lens. It's like Aerial photography it takes specially trained people. In games this weekend players got penalized for late tackles that would have been super human to pull out of because it looked late frame by frame but reality it was only a fraction of a second. So need specialist training and regular practice to get the skills to a high standard

Quick question gents: Would you like to see team jerseys rewarded with a star or some kind of symbol to represent either premierships won, or who the reigning premiers are? I'm also a massive football (soccer) fan, in particular the Italian league and each previous season winner's jersey has a badge of the italian flag to symbolise this - furthermore, every 10 premierships are rewarded with a star to celebrate this. Even though I follow the chooks, but I think to the Panthers of late, they're 3-peat winners yet you look at their jersey and there's nothing to highlight this. Surely fans of any club would love to also (if not prefer to) buy a version their team's current jersey which has some kind of badge or symbol that shows they're the current premiers? Hey Scope/mase, Well done for calling it what it was. The amount crap I’m seeing online calling out the referees. It’s been consistent IRRESPECTIVE of what gender they are. The carry on and screaming at the ref is unacceptable. It shouldn’t be up the referees to tell professional footballers how to behave. There has been a lot of chat that the game Badger refereed that she lost control. It shouldn’t be up to the ref to ‘control the game’ the players play. The communication from Badger was good. Have you been to some park footy, even kids games? Who would want to be a referee. Anyone who becomes an NRL referee must be some of the most resilient people around. I understand that there is a lot of pressure out there at the top level. If you’ve been told to shut up and then you’re sat down…that’s on you. I hope your team fines you in Kangaroo Court hard for letting them down and make you drink something yuck. Peace Matt

It's my opinion that it's in the interest of the NRL for some teams to be stronger than others and this gets reflected at times in the refereeing. I say this as a fan of teams who have benefitted from this at times, while being on the other end of it at others. Some calls are so bad and get brushed over by commentators and broadcasters that my cynical mind can't help but wonder. As far as the female refs are concerned, I'm a firm believer in the best person getting any particular job regardless of their gender. I think quota's based on gender over performance in any profession is a negative and creates discontent and distrust in the very systems those professionals represent.

I think the difference between nsw and qld is that when you look at qld you see qld as a solid team that gels perfectly. No one really stands out maybe apart from Munster and you expect all of them to do nothing but their jobs. When you look at nsw you see a few big name individuals (clearly, trobjevic, latrell, Tedesco, haas) and filler all star players surrounding them. You never look at the blues as a team but those individuals you hold high expectations with for different reasons (latrells from, teddys form and more, clearly being able to own origin etc). It’s just nsw both as a team and individually have a narrative towards themselves that separates them from being a complete team.

Picking latrell when his biggest problem isn’t just his form it’s his attitude just seems wild especially when he’s said he wants to focus on souths for once. we’ve seen this before he’ll come back have a couple outstanding games then fall off again. That can’t be the standard for nsw. And that can’t be the standard he is held to. Especially as a Souths fan we want him to get better and play well that will never happen if he can be in the worst form of his career and still get picked

20:11 love the poddy, been listening since day one. honestly believe that the players have taken full advantage over the female refs because no other ref on the ground or the bunker helped the girls out on the field. the only reason they got targeted by “keyboard warriors” is because they can’t target the other refs and partially because they are women. all you have to do is look how the bulldogs and tigers was played. the bunker wasn’t supporting both female refs which then applied further pressure because the players only had her to talk to since the bunker can not be spoken to due to where they are. honestly, the way recent games have been played is ridiculous and is going to ruin the way we view the game. keep doing the great poddy, honestly makes my day.
