Thanks for watching this clip of NS trains through Natural Tunnel State Park, Duffield, Virginia. Natural tunnel is listed as the Eight Wonders of the World.
It is a truly amazing place to visit if you can. But catching a train with the downturn in the coal industry the last few years will make it a bit harder than it was here in 2005. These video clips were taken in just a couple hours that we spent there..
Video was taken with a Sony Digital 8 Camera on May 4th, 2005.

You're the GOAT in railfanning videos. I was just there in early July 2023. 50+ years after my family and I were there. This time I road the steep ski lift down. The first, I remember "walking" down and my Dad carrying me back up. Both times; no trains.

My wife and I was there about 3 years ago. We walked down. Spent 5 hours, saw nothing. We were going to ride the lift back up, and it was shut down for the day. Sure did get our exercise. LOL

It was interesting Steve. The problem is that the coal traffic has dropped off so badly, you may have to spend the whole day there to catch something. Have a good weekend. (Jack)

I’m 22 now, always been a train guy since I was born. I remember when I was 7-8 years old going camping at natural tunnel then 12-15 trains would come through every day hauling loads or emptys of coal cars. Makes me sad how times have changed. Now you’re fortunate if you get 2 that come through now.

Thats a shame. My wife and I was there about 3 years back. Spent 5 hours there, and saw nothing. Almost not worth going back.

Along with Horseshoe Curve, this is probably one of the two most beautiful spots on any Class I. Love this place to death. Question, though: What's the deal with the all-white engines? At first I assumed they were a leaser engines, but then they kept coming up throughout the video.

Those were new dash 9 locomotives in their primer scheme. NS must’ve Been really short on power in may of 2005 so they didn’t have time to paint them in the NS scheme.
