We all tend to hold beliefs and assumptions about ourselves, other people in the world more generally. But in depression, there are a number of faulty beliefs and assumptions that fuel and drive depression. This is a compilation video describing 13 common beliefs and assumptions that contribute to depression, including:
1) Everything I do must be perfect, or else I am a failure.
2) Life is fair.
3) I am only worthwhile as long as I’m doing something for someone else.
4) Anger is bad.
5) I must always be at 100% peak efficiency and performance.
6) It is easier to avoid life’s problems than to face them directly.
7) Life in unbearable when it is not the way I would like it to be.
8) I need someone stronger, more capable or more powerful than myself to rely on.
9) If others disagree with me, then I must be wrong.
10) The way to be appreciated and accepted by other people is to constantly give and give.
11) I have to do everything I am asked to do.
12) Good relationships have no problems.
13) I have the power to change people.

I had trouble learning new things and languages as a child 6 because of fear failure and mistakes. Has been an impediment since. Omigosh, always being if service. It has sometimes gone to the extreme of expecting people to give me something to do and it burdens them and frankly makes me look needy. This Is still a bit of a narrative in mine and womens' lives. I know i'm like this because I never really fulfilled my own goals and dreams careerwise...or maybe i did. Maybe putting others first and being their cheerleader made me a great talent scout. Many peeps Ive "promoted" have become quite successful. I dunno. Even people pleasing is a meaningful vocation? For some,an easy way out of living their own lives? Making others into "projects?" Could go on and on per catagory, but must say that this talk is so important and you spell it out so well Dr. Nader. Thankyou❤

Similar to the avoiding problems belief -> Could "things can wait until later"/"I have infinite time" be another damaging/depression causing or maintaining belief?
