i had a girl initiate the first conversation. She was nice and we hit it off immediately. We became fast friends and I thought she enjoyed being around me. She was very touchy. Up until now I convinced myself she was being nice (because of past experiences). But I've never had someone who showed this much enthusiasm and this touchy. Months later I expressed that I liked her. She wasn't interested and wanted to stay friends. Her texts got shorter and shorter while taking weeks to answer. We don't talk anymore. I believe when you're in that situation and you begin having feelings for her, before committing, just ask her "are you just being nice?" and tell her how much higher her level of interest is than other girls and you interpret having a high interest to be romantically motivated. My thoughts exactly, we don't want to read into a something that is a normal thing people do all the time, because if she glances at us, and we approach based on that, theres a 65% chance that her eyes were just casually wandering and now not only do we look creepy but we also look like fools, so we just shrug it off
@Nightmare-wo2gd
@Nightmare-wo2gd Жыл бұрын
@@staberas see though, because she specifically told you/showed interest you knew 100% she was into you, and could thus act on it without being picked up as a creepy guy, but since this is almost never the case, that 100% drops to like 35% if that, so less favourable odds means the better outcome is to not try to land on the 35 and take the 65 where your reputation is spared imo

Other than the romcom "i HaVe FrIeNdS" bit, that's literally how women used to show interest to men they wanted to approach them. All that she missed from the best technique of the olden days was to leave something behind when she walked away so that the man would see it and take it, follow her, give it back, and now the two have an excuse to talk. @JackOKnives
@JackOKnives Жыл бұрын
Eh. Sometimes you can work it out from context. In a school setting, you see the who they greet and how they greet them. If they treat you differently, you might pick up on the fact that she views you differently. The trick is that if you're going to pick up on something like that, you're already thinking about the person enough that you're studying their habits. A girl who's interested in you is already doing that, which is why these gestures are "obvious" in her mind. The ability to see things from outside our own perspective is a learned skill, and in High School not everyone has picked it up yet. That said, these little flirtations are usually someone testing the water. People tend to want to avoid pain, physical or emotional. She's not yet looking for a commitment out of you, she's sending signals trying to determine if you're receptive to the idea (i.e. already thinking about her). When these little gestures go ignored, they reach the next branch in the decision tree; chicken out and wait for a "better opportunity", or break out the clue bat.

Tbqh it's generally not even worth being friends with females you meet at work. I knew this one girl. We became friends. I had zero romantic interest in her. Not my type. But nice enough so we became buds. So eventually I move our of state but we still text each other. Then the weirdest thing happens, she starts asking me to borrow money. Now I was broke since I just moved to a new state so I couldn't do it. But she kept asking. And when she's ask it was gave off a weird energy. She'd say stuff like "you're the only one I can turn to' and things like that. Which was kinda a red flag to me but at that point we'd been "friends" for years and I'm pretty loyal to my friends so i didn't really think too much about it. So eventually I get settled and I have money to blow and she texts me one day saying she's short on rent and says they are a going to evict her if she doesn't come up with it in the next few days. So, feeling bad for someone I considered a friend, I lent it to her. Said she'd pay me back in a week. Didn't. Then said she'd pay me back the following week. Didn't. Haven't talked to her since. All that time I considered us friends but I guess to her I was just some guy she could try to get money out of. You just never know what women are thinking.

Once on a school trip a girl asked me if I would walk her back to the girls cabin and we were pretty much the only people still up, so I walked her to the cabin, said good night and left and then several years later I realize that she might have been trying to flirt with me.

I've been told for years that just because a woman is being nice to me does not mean she is interested. I take this as the default setting so whenever a woman is nice to me, I assume that's the end of it. This does mean that when a woman is being nice because she's trying to be subtly flirty, I will completely miss that. I assume many other guys are like this as well. Let me explain this phenomenon with my own experience. I had a friend I played Minecraft with. She had a boyfriend so I never considered her. She would invite me to her house to play Minecraft on our days off. Even after they broke up, we still met at her house for Minecraft (she was obsessed with it). One day after she moved away, she told me out of the blue that she had been flirting all those times. I had no idea, because her idea of flirting was asking me to show her how to properly play the game. As in, when she asked how to make a fence in Minecraft, that was her flirting. No change in voice tone, no touching, nothing. Literally just "hey bro how do I make a fence"

Numi: My friends are single. Numi: why am I still single? Tip for women: Men are straightforward creatures. Give him a compliment; men love compliments. If you are going to be subtle with looking, you need to have your eyes meet then smile then look away then look back. Men are also physical creatures, so a gentle shoulder to shoulder nudge will make it click in the man's mind that you like him after all that. Tip 2: Men are petrified of getting the signals wrong especially after the "me too" movement. A genuine fear of men is that flirting is seen as harassment. MAKE IT OBVIOUS THAT YOU LIKE HIM.

That first tip can just be seen as a girl being friendly and touchy. Signals at this point might as well be signals of a girls personality, especially in areas where women and feminists can have men arrested with a simple accusation after a single attempt at flirting. At this point if you are giving dating tips, make sure you give a general area that you know this tip will work in, otherwise you risk putting innocent people in jail or, in some areas with highly toxic feminists, in actual physical danger, unfortunately. My knowledge on this subject mainly comes from American videos, so take this as you will.

All of the signals she gave off are the same ones 25 years ago when I was dating. I never had a guy not recognize them. If the girls signals haven’t changed, then it’s by default the guys not being able to read them, not the girl for sending them. Just letting a guy catch you looking at him, which was one of her signals, was all it took. There were girls that very obviously would hit on my sons. They had no idea. I’m coming from experience on guys today just not being able to read the cues anymore. I really think it’s texting and social media as the main reason. Just not enough human face to face interaction when social cues are being learned when young.
@BattleSpew

@@debanydoombringer1385 If i may? U said 25 years ago right? Im not even 25 yet lol. But what im saying is, thats a LOT of time. And imo, ways girls flirt has definitely changed. Those ways she described can have different reasons to them now a days. And now males are more wary of jumping the gun. As the punishments for reading intents wrong are almost as heavy as Galactus is. Lord knows with the way women will embarass men trying to shoot their shot off a misconstrued action, or heaven forbid accuse them of harassment just because they read the vibe wrong, i think that would make anyone desire to be more straightforward. In todays world theres a lot that we are trying to be careful of. I think the main problem is the ambiguity. It's not that people are dense, it's the real possibility that it's a completely different situation in which the assumption of romantic feelings would be inappropriate, which people (especially people with low self esteem) would default too, given that it minimizes the chances of things getting awkward, losing a friend or some other social cost.

Because people feel awkward and naturally squirm and wiggle to avoid being upfront and clear, the two biggest mistakes I see people make are beating around the bush and not appreciating when they are putting someone else in a difficult position. To all the people wanting to flirt or ask a guy out, do the most obvious thing and then go a step or even two steps further because your most obvious thing can and will go over a lot of guy's heads. If you think saying, "I like you," is the most obvious thing, I've seen many guys think the girl is saying they like them platonically or as friends and totally missing it. If you want consistent success, go a step or two further than that. Instead of just saying, "I like you." Say, "I like you. I think you're attractive and would love to go out on a date." It does wonders if you're that direct.

Guys, remember, this is *_Numi._* She's... not exactly... the normal baseline of female to use as a comparison. As much as we all love her for being so adorkable and spilling spaghetti and being so much of a bottom, those other females that just nod at you and say hello to you are actually just exchanging a greeting with you. No, this is definitely what plenty of girls do. This was basically the norm for girls flirting, they just naturally have 0 skills to do it. Their way is to make the man attracted to them so THEY act first. That's just nature bro. The problem is how men are punished when they get this wrong, in a society where this behavior is encouraged in women. Women used to act more reserved as to not hint to the wrong male party they're interested, to avoid having to reject. Nowadays, we have Numi giving chocolate to everyone instead of only her crush.

A lot of it is a case by case basis and has much to do with our own confidence. For example, by the seventh grade no one had ever asked me out before and any time I had asked I’d been rejected. So I had internalized the idea that I was not attractive. So when I girl came up to me, sat on my desk, and told me “it’s National ass-grabbing day” my first thought was “oh, she’s just teasing me for her enjoyment. No girl could actually find me attractive.”

There’s like a whole subsection of culture that mocks guys for reading too much into stuff. Then the dude is labeled as a creep. We see or experience that and it can be traumatizing. We don’t want to be labeled a creep, especially by a girl we might like, so we slow down and move so carefully that romantic progress often can’t keep pace with changing life situations. Times change and the two part ways. Guys are less affluent in emotional communication too. So what might be just enough of a hint from the girl’s perspective is often just a big question mark from the guy’s perspective. I suppose it basically comes down to a fear of rejection on both sides. Neither wants to risk it so they play it so safe that not enough progress is made. Fear seems to be the cause of most of humanity’s shortcomings. If we can overcome it, understand our intrinsic value despite how situations could play out, then we’d be more bold in our actions and live life more fully.

If a man takes a ‘hint’ and is wrong, the consequences could be terrible. I hear so much about women who give off what you’d think would be hints, not like incel POV hints, stuff like lying on your lap, literally flirting with you, being physical with you etc. But when the person interprets that as ‘oh they must be in to me’ and asks, they go ‘no what?’ Effectively. I hear about it so much. Have to remember, the consequences of being wrong about hints for men ranges from being viewed as creepy to jail time. False accusations are scary as shit since they can be pulled on you and you’re DONE for it even if you didn’t do a single thing. It’s much much much safer to always assume a woman is just being friendly, nice, or messing with you unless they are completely direct like “Hey I love you”, even then teenage girls will condition some men into even viewing that as ‘she was just dared/joking/trying to trick me’ It may sound like incel shit, but I genuinely it’s way too risky for men to take what is inconsistently considered a ‘hint’. People are pretty awful and just because you tell yourself it wont happen to you doesnt mean it wont, probability does not discriminate.

Men not acting on subtlety is a learned behavior in the interest of self preservation. As a male, you learn really early on and quickly to never try to act on "subtle hints" because if you get it wrong you will not only suffer the social consequences, but if it's someone crazy or with ill will, they may even go so far as to try to hit you with harassment, and in those situations as a male you are at severe disadvantage and unlikely to be believed. Literally experienced it myself at college with a girl who seemed like she was dropping hints, and after a week I finally worked up the nerve to ask if she was interested in going to a college fair or getting coffee at the campus cafe together, and she immediately changed her demeanor, made a huge scene as if I was trying to attack her, and a couple hours later I'm talking to officers about a harassment claim for repeat unwanted advances, and indecency in public after just one time asking about just going to get coffee or attending a college function. Similar types of situations of different varieties happened to 5 other guys I know, and one actually faced legal consequences. After that, no more even asking for a date until it's made obvious.
