I’m not going to lie - Susan is so incredibly strong and totally badass. To say under oath “if I thought you should be dead I would’ve at least had the balls to kill you myself” is SO REAL.

this story is absolutely insane - how even though she knew he only wanted to kill her, she still made sure to give him several chances to stay alive. crazy how people can be so good.

It's so nice to hear a story where the good guys triumph and the bad guys get their comeuppance, for once. Susan's story is an inspiration. The letter from the family is also inspirational and I hope brought Susan some much-needed closure. Thank you for sharing, Snowflake! X

That's an important tip that can help when being attacked with a blunt object such as a hammer/bat etc. - getting closer to the attacker can stop them doing as much damage It seems counterintuitive, but as so much of the force from a swing is down to the distance from the pivot point, this can absolutely diminish the power of a swing. Obviously if you can get away, then do that but if you're stuck confronting a blunt-force weapon, moving towards them can save your life 👍

Plus they get a shock and you get a couple of seconds advantage on them! A lot of things can happen if you have a couple of seconds advantage on a person, especially if they are already on the attempt swing through.

Wild story, I remember reading about it, but only short articles that didn't really give much backstory. Just a "woman who defied the odds" tale. They had only made it sound like she had strangled him, not the intense vicious struggle for her life. Anyone who underestimates how tough a nurse is, is an idiot. They are some of the most physically and mentally toughest people I've come to know. "Save the ambulance for the guy, he may be dead".. wow

This hit close to home for me. I didn't unalive someone, but my ex-husband was an accessory. His father's bffs are judges and lawyers. He did a few months, and that's it. He's mentally unstable, and it gets worse. I have someone who changes my name and location for me, and I see a psychologist regularly. Her telling me I'm safe now does nothing. I'm not going into how I grew up online to strangers. I will say that as a woman, learning self-defense is important.

Dear Mistah ❄️ This was SO captivating to me! I was just in complete AWE at that woman..the description of her bravery, the kind of strength shown by her during the fight, her sheer determination, and WILL to *Live* had me awe-struck! 😮. Then I was further amazed and filled with admiration as she immediately after hearing of his passing, expressed sorrow for HIS family first! I thought, " What a rare *gem* of a human being! I almost can't believe she's real!" Sorry to go on so long, but I'll wrap this up just by saying THANK YOU l, so very much for sharing this story because to me, even though the subject matter here was a bit dark, I left having watched it feeling rather uplifted after seeing her get the recognition and finally a bit of peace it seemed in her life, with even his family showing good will towards her. It felt a fitting "end" to the story but beginning for a better life for her. ✨️🌈 🖤

Great choice. I love to see this kind of video from you! Susan is one of my favorite people period. As someone who almost met the fate she was supposed to - she wound up being an amazing role model for emotional maturity and how to navigate a situation that terrible and still be as good a person as you can be. It's a shame that someone needs a role model for that - but I did. And I still do. I really hope she's living a blessed life no matter where she is.

This is so well done! Would love it if you did more true crime content. Especially stories like these - I remember this story, and her survival is incredible! The 'happy ending' (I know it's more complex than that, but she showed how people can survive and still thrive even after severe trauma) especially is a nice way to handle this kind of content. Thank you for handling this case with so much class and insight.

What a beautiful tribute to a brave and courageous woman. 🖤 Beautifully done, yet again, Mr. S. Not to be that person who overshares, but I totally understand her daily fear, anxiety, and paranoia. Something happened to me in 2019 (nothing as egregious as what Susan endured), and it's still taking its toll on my life. I've worked hard to overcome that fear, paranoia, and the persistent need to be vigilant and alert at all times. It's exhausting, mentally and physically. It can and will ruin your life, your friendships, relationships, everything. Sometimes, even when the trauma is the farthest from your mind, and you are safe with no reason to have fear, your body still remembers, and the PTSD kicks in and floods your body with fight or flight and adrenaline. Whole body shakes, panic, and terror wash over you and cripple you if you aren't able to ground yourself and stay calm. It's debilitating and truly awful. It does get a bit better with time, diligence, therapy, etc. With proper resources, it can be managed. I don't know how Susan is today, but I truly hope she's found peace and no longer lives in fear. I genuinely hope that anyone who has PTSD is able to find peace and feel safe. All my love and respect 🖤

What she said about her ex husband after he died shows that she is truly a kind person. She wasn't bitter, resentful or angry about how that man's actions had changed the course of her life. She was very aware and matter-of-fact about what drove him to make those choices and she was sad about the outcome of it all. Those are all signs of a very emotionally mature and kind person.
