Laboratory models suggest that extreme doses of heme iron may be detrimental, but what about the effects of nutritional doses in humans?

I don't understand why people think that vegans eat like Impossible meat every single day for every meal or something like that. Most of the vegans I know eat them sparingly, or when they feel generous to themselves. Most of us still consume veggies and legumes and tofu/tempe in the end.

1.53 The quoted article says "Meat heated at a high temperature contain HAAs." It is not specified what is meant by "high temperature", but you say that this means "high, dry heat" which you elaborate as "Basically, anything except steaming or stewing." Two questions: 1. does this article specify that or is this your interpretation? 2. what about high temperature cooking, but moist heat, as in using the pressure cooker?

no one, and I repeat, NO ONE is arguing that the impossible burger is "good" for anybody. We're sinply comparing it to beef which it is by far more "healthy". Its still junk food offering little actual nutrition but to cull the "can't expect everyone to subside soley on salad" claim, plant based bugers can be good to use a replacement so people don't lose their minds from the switch to healthy eating.
@fieldlab4
@fieldlab4 3 жыл бұрын
@@chikkmagneet I'm not saying don't eat it in moderation, but you are going to have a hell of a time trying to prove that it's somehow better for you than eating meat. And it would probably be pointless to even try. In fact, I would hardly be surprised if it somehow turned out to be actually worse than meat in terms of health effects. And yes I am a decades long vegan and no I'm not making excuses for the ethical problems with meat, just a nutritional observation, and one with some precedent. And in my opinion a possibility you should be prepared for. What I'm saying is to be careful not to misrepresent this product as something healthy for meat eaters, who are bound to be disappointed in its health effects, which could create a backlash against veganism that is worse than where they started from. Because if there is anything that turns people off today, it's misrepresentation or dishonesty for a cause.

@@fieldlab4You seem really intent on attacking a strawman: nobody is saying Impossible Burgers are good for you. Dr. Greger didn't say that. And far from trying to prove that Impossible Burgers are good, Dr. Greger is simply trying to find out if they're bad or not. That's why he's looking at the possible dangers of the heme iron in Impossible Burgers, buddy.
@fieldlab4
@fieldlab4 3 жыл бұрын
@@profd65 it's a bit of a straw man argument to say that I'm using a straw man argument. I'm an absolute supporter of what Dr Greger is saying. I am questioning comments that tend to misrepresent the nutritional aspects of impossible burger to people who might become so disappointed with vegetarianism as a result that it creates a backlash. There are certainly ecological and ethical advantages to the impossible burger, but that should not be conflated with nutritional advantages.
@profd65

@@fieldlab4 You don't know when to quit, do you? You wrote in reply to this video, and not in reply to any comment: "This sure is a lot of work to determine if a certain junk food is 'good' for us." Again, nobody's trying to prove that the Impossible Burger is nutritious, nobody thinks it's going to take the place of broccoli. Are you hearing voices? The only thing we're wondering is whether the Impossible Burger is actually unhealthy or whether it's simply devoid of nutrition.

Search "Morley Robbins" and "Dr. Barry Sears" (Zone Diet).. What is your TG/HDL ratio? What is you AA/EPA ratio? 1-1.5 is a good to decent value for both. Many are much higher. How much processed food do you eat -- and literal metallic iron filings? Chronicle c disease was 4% in then1940's when iron-filing were added to the food supply. From the beginning to 1941, lots of naturally raised meat (not Auschwitz raised meat) was eaten. After iron filings were added to the food supply, chronic disease has jumped to 60 in just 80 years. Yet, the rhetorical doctor spins sophistry to blame ALL heme iron instead of focus on the real.drivers which are.metallic iron filings bio-copper, retinol, and magnesium deficiencies. BTW, all those other artificial nutrients are added to drive that toxic carcinogenic metallic iron into your cells as quickly as possible. If you can't grasp this "natural law,* the Money Power seems you unfit and deserving of extinction. Is the rhetorical doctor on the payroll, or just an unwitting programmed parrot doing what he was need to do? Does it matter?
@wellnesspathforme6236
@wellnesspathforme6236 3 жыл бұрын
@Elia Bressan I'm all for lots of nutrient-dense vegetables absent the pesticides and toxins (and lots of people never talk about that!). But there are some nutrients that are hard to get without eating, for example, grass beef liver from fed/finished and well treated cows. Everyone's situation is unique, though. Some people are fine, others not so much. I have a friend who went vegetarian with minimal fish for seven years. It helped a gut issue, but he became so inflamed he couldn't sit at a movie -- he had to lie down due to the pain. A week of adding meat back in his diet (not even the high quality kind I promote) and he was feeling much better. His doctor recently told him he has some risk factors that are worrisome, and he stopped drinking soda (I had no idea he drank soda or I would've made a point how toxic it is). Non-meat eaters also have to be careful about eating meals that elevates their insulin levels. High insulin is quite toxic, and it drives hunger. They also have to be careful to get their bio-copper and retinol (not beta-carotene, which needs to be converted, and the conversion depends on retinol already being available. IOW, if you are low in retinol, you might not be able to convert beta-carotene into retinol!). I think a good diet for a vegetarian to try is one where they eat quality vegetables and fruits (so easy to eat toxic versions and processed toxic crap), but added in 8 ounces of liver a week and two cans of quality sardines a week. I heat my sardines on a bed of chopped onions lightly frying in clarified butter and covered).

@@boom-bm1kl Well, I just found an article on the "healthline" website entitled "10 Types of Saturated Fat Reviewed" which seems to contend that certain saturated fatty acids are OK, and some are even created by your own body through the fermentation of fiber. The article seems a little too saturated fat friendly to me; if I was told the author was on the keto diet I wouldn't be surprised. Anyway, you can read it if you want to. A guy named Atli Arnarson wrote it. I'd post a link but I'm afraid my comment would get taken down. Note: despite the saturated fat, I eat a lot of nuts. I'm eating them now. I eat guacamole too. But I get very little saturated fat from other sources.
