Before you ask, no, I'm not a "platform guy!" ;)
But I do like old gear, and having options. I look forward to putting this piece of saddle hunter history to good use.
Think that Nutterbuster fella is an OK guy? Wish you could do more for him than liking his videos and subscribing to his channel? Then next time you do your shopping over at Amazon, use his affiliate link! That way Mr. Bezos give a few dollars of commission to the ole boy.

You can also check out his Amazon Store for ideas on what to blow your disposable income on this week!

Was digging through my old closet, at my moms the other day, and I found the treesuit I bought like 20 years ago, that you wear. Had used it only a couple of times back then, because I fell like 10-15’ using tree spurs, so I tucked it away, and bought an ole man climber. Anyways I just tried it on a pole in the back yard, and it’s still good as new. Going to buy some tree sticks this year, and try saddle hunting again.

Squeaks and creaks. One thing that may help is to route the strap where he designed the strap holders under the platform. Thus allowing all the tubing to be filled with low expansion foam. That will absorb a lot of sound or resonance.

I tried the ring of steps, they don't work for me but I am 67yr old. I have had plantar facia. I am not over weight but not enough surface area for my feet. I have a tethered platform. It tilts down and is large enough for my feet. That makes it work for me. But this looks really nice if they built one even with a fixed tilt of about 15 or 20deg. Nice platform.

The pop/click cost me a 140" 10 point on a draw hunt last week. Had him at 28 yards and when I shifted my weight to draw it clicked and he looked straight at me.... busted.

That's a cool platform bossman. Crocs and NutterBuster just don't seem right I'll tell you what. I bet if you took that fence down you'd have deer all about and what not. I'm not sure if ring of steps would work for me but they do look really light.

Man very solid platform. For the weight and how solid that platform is very well worth it to have. Thanks for the video

What would be the issue with combining the platform with the ring of steps?
@nickwilliamsoutdoors
@nickwilliamsoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
No issue at all. A lot of folks do that. It seems redundant to me, so I just use a ring of steps most of the time.

When you are setup and hunting do you legs get tired? Does your back get tired? Do you legs brushing up against the tree make a lot of noise? How about in a pine tree?
@nickwilliamsoutdoors
@nickwilliamsoutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
I can sit dark to dark if need be. No back or leg discomfort. No noise against the tree, I wear kneepads. I have some areas I hunt that are probably 99.9% pines. A saddle works just fine in pine trees.

You should make a vid of adding or taking away layers while using a tree saddle
@nickwilliamsoutdoors
@nickwilliamsoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
It would be a short video! I can add or remove a top layer pretty much the same as if I was in a regular stand. I honestly have never had to add bottom layers in south Alabama. I can rock all season usually with a regular pair of uninsulated hunting pants and a pair of thermals underneath it.

@@nickwilliamsoutdoors Ah, ya you dont see temps we see here in MO, IL, or Iowa. It would still be an interesting video to see if its possible to add layers on the bottom.

Is this platform homemade ? Or can it be found somewhere ?
@nickwilliamsoutdoors
@nickwilliamsoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tom. It is not homemade. It was originally manufactured by a company called Treesuit. They have since gone out of business. There are some forum members DIYing them on the saddlehunter forum, but to my knowledge they are not commercially available. I wish they were.

G2outdoors' channel has a good video on it. It's stupid simple. Spray your base color, tear off a piece of sponge, spray your secondary colors on a paper plate, dip the sponge, and dab away.

I like the support legs underneath. That really makes it stable. If the predator had that support underneath it probably would not shift.
