Nuwave Induction Cooktop vs. Hot Plate

We know induction cooktops are efficient but how much more efficient are they? To my surprise, they are so much more efficient than a hot plate this might cause to to change my stove top to an induction version.

wow. a 40% time reduction at only 7% more power consumption is much more difference than i expected

Induction is way awesome. If you turn off the power then things don't keep increasing in tempature. Like a gas stove it reacts instantly to turning off. Any pot you can stick a magnet to is induction ready. 1/2 the energy consumption and twice the controll. Personally the energy thing is nominally important because cooking takes only a short time, you dont use a ton of energy. Where it really shines is making cooking easier because you have more controll. A really good product test would be testing the temperature controls against other induction heaters. The quality of the temperature control is really what sets a great heater apart from the competition.

I only have portable stoves like these as I mostly cook on my instant pot or air fryer/ovens/microwave. Induction is really good, it's a shame mine does not allow proper temperature setting (it allows it but it cycles instead of having a proper thermostat, so I can only keep things warm or have it cycling through and burning the bottom of the food instead of being able to set it at a constant temperature like the Instant Pot). I am glad I got the new Instant Pot that has stainless steel pans with handles, so I can use my induction cooktop if I want to quickly fry onions or something like that before adding the rest of the ingredients to cook under lower temperatures (or pressure) later, since the instant pot's own heating element is much less efficient and it takes much longer to reach temperature. For things like fondue I had to get a regular ceramic stove AND a voltage regulator to force the resistance to run less hot (otherwise it would cycle as well, burning the cheese).
