This is a review of the Nuwave Induction Hob that cooks at least twice as fast as an electric or gas cooktop and is great for offgrid, camping or emergency blackout cooking. On Amazon: amzn.to/3lnygJd

Good review. When you use the 600-watt setting, using the full range of low to sear stays under 700 watts. The 900-watt setting full range stays under 1000 watts. The 1300 watt setting full range stays under 1400 watts. I've been using mine for over a year almost 3 times a day off my free solar. Great unit for the price. I'm ordering a 2nd one as a back-up.

@@solarcabin No problem. When I cook on the 600-watt setting, I use high. The 900-watt setting I use med. I never use the 1300 except to boil water. The 1300 is the default setting so I always have to remember to reset it when I plug it in.

I tried a duxtop. It sucked. Bought the nuwave "gold" after learning it has a larger coil than every other portable induction cooktop. The nuwave makes less noise and the heat settings are simple, so other people can use it without teaching them.

Thank you for your information. I have a converted van but I do not want to install any solar on it so I will be depending on my 750 watt and 1800 watt Bluetti to run my NuWave.

You can check your pans by using a magnet. If it sticks to the bottom of the pan it should work. If it doesn't, it will not.

This isn't always hard and fast rule, I've had magnetic stainless pots that still didn't work. Good rule of thumb is to use cast iron as much as possible, cast iron and induction are a match made in heaven. Only use stainless for water boiling since boiling water ruins cast iron seasoning.
@ronb6182
@ronb6182 4 ай бұрын
You can have cast iron for this purpose. Some of my pieces aren't seasoned so I could boil using them just remember to dry them out after use. But if you have stainless steel pots the bottoms are usually have aluminum in them. Which won't work with induction cooking. 73@@0hypnotoad0

Great video! I don’t live off grid but my 1986 stove gave it up recently so I got this exact cooking device and I love it. Between this, my Instant Pot Duo Crisp, and a microwave and an outdoor grill in nice weather I can cook anything I want and don’t need to buy a new stove.

Yes, with the right appliances you don't really need a stove and those can go with you camping.

Appears to be the Flex model. Shoppers compare with larger diameter Gold and Titanium. Nuwave's higher end models have 5 degree settings but what is most import is the ability to hold a gentle simmer, keep warm at 100F and has enough mid-range adjustment and stability to prevent burning. Gold has 1500 watts and fits the bill. I keep it next to the much larger 1800 watt Titanium. I have obtained noticeably super results with Demeyere Proline skillet, 9 and 12", and Atlantis saucepans and would pay the $$$ again if needed. I use Staub 24 cm skillet often, the version w/o pour spouts so I can braise with a lid. The 24 cm Le Creuset oven is also a good choice. It's c.i. lid can be used on a fry pan. For boiling, the replacement inner pot with handles for Inatant Pot Pro is an excellent value. A good companion for Nuwave is a hand carry inverter gasoline generator. Con: Parasitic drain. Unplug or use a switched outlet.

i have a mastercraft induction cooker . it would not work on my 1000 watt modified wave inverter. lights up but no heat. so have to buy pure sine way inverter. if a pot boils over it gets very slippery to keep pot on. but seems to do a good job. going to use it on my houseboat.

In my camper I use a 600 watt bucket immersion water heater. I can still take a bath using my batteries if power is out. I fill a 5 gal bucket about 2/3rds with water and after about 30+ minutes depending on water/air temperature the water is hot. I then add cold water to adjust temp. I use a large plastic glass to dump water over myself. Always some left over. If I keep my bathroom door closed it heats the air in Winter so it isn`t freezing.

If plugging into an inverter, would a 1500 watt work or would you need to play it safe and have a 2000 watt or above? I was thinking a 1500 watt does best around 1200 or below.

I use mine with a 1000-watt inverter. The 600-watt setting stays under 700 on all settings. The 900-watt setting stays under 1000 watts. If I try to use the 1300 setting it will kick off after about 30 seconds. I have done all my cooking on the 600 and 900 setting for over a year now with that 1000-watt inverter.

I use one of these hooked up to a 100-watt panel. (SWAREY Outdoor Generators 240Wh) Used it over 2 years now. It's lifepo 4 with all the ports I need with the small inverter for charging laptop or other devices. It has 2 10-amp port you can use for lights. Comes with 12-volt charger plug so just hook a 12 volt plug to your battery and charge it from that of get its own 100-watt panel (MC4 cable included). it's $99 on amazon right now.
