I prefer MG30 because of the Metal Chasis and ability to stack Overdrive/Distortion and Delay. If both MG 300 and 400 can, it will help me a lot because i usually stack TS and OD with my stomp boxes

Great review as always. One thing you mention is that each of these units have a flexible signal chain. I'm not sure about the 400 and 30, but I have a 300 and the signal chain is only partially flexible. Also, I wish the 300 had a few more effects, with looks to be the same as the new 400..

Hi, Leo. How do you consider the Mg 400 and Mg 30 for makin ambient music for nature videos (ocean, wood, sunset, sky, autumn, rain, twilight, etc, by the use of an electric guitar? I've been listening to specific pedals like "Old Blood Noise Dark Light", "Chase Bliss Audio Dark World", and "Walrus Audio Slöer Ambient Reverb". How you see in a complex and deep mix of functions and set programming on the Mg 400 o 30 reaching the kind of sounds of those other pedals? Sorry, english isn't my main language. High Leo, really appreciate your videos. One thing I didn’t get from this is whether the tone is significantly better between the 3 modelers. For example does the MG400 sound any better than the MG 300? And is the tone of the MG30 far better than either, justifying the extra cost in your opinion? For me the main thing is that the amps have a real tube feel and sound. Thanks in advance!😊

Is there any news of the Nux MG-40? THe plastic body on this seems like a big no-no for me as someone who gigs live and wants to shift from the Champion 100 and a pedalboard to a multi-fx. What Multi-fx would you recommend between the Nux MG-30, Mooer GE-250 and the Pod Go? I normally would use a PA system or a speaker out for the sounds so the IRs and amp models play a big part to go completely ampless.

Hi Leo, I have been watching your videos for a few days and I need help. I am a relatively new player and looking to get an amp modeler/multi-effects unit. I don't mind spending, but of course would prefer to save money if I can. In your opinion, for home use/recording, which unit is the best bang for buck and would last me a long time (a few years)? I have been looking at the HX stomp/XL, Ampero 2, Mooer GE250/300 lite (basically all the mid priced ones). I have also considered getting a 2nd hand Helix. My only worry is the Helix is pretty old tech (7 years or so) and I'm worried it wouldn't be ideal if I'm looking at 3-4 years of usage from now.
@LeoGibsonGtr

Hi Mohammed, it's always very hard for me to suggest a unit over the others in such a specific way, as your needs are unique and my suggestion could not fit with your needs. I try to give you the more info I can, in order to then let you decide which one you prefer, according to your needs. All these units are nice, and i would suggest you to check out what is really important for you. For instance: how many foot switches do you need? how many USB channel do you need for recording? Is there any specific amp that you absoulutelly need? etc. Once you have your needs clarified, you can choose the cheapest unit taht satisfy all your needs... That's they way I would proceed...and I hope you will be able to find the info in my videos!

2nd hand mg300 or mg30, are really hard to beat if you're looking for either something simple that could sound pretty good with 3rd party IRs for home use or something more feature rich that still is pretty new and should receive some updates. I think the right move should have been release the MG300 back then with some room from improvement via updates, but it seems that either its hardware is maxed out or there's no interest in rewriting its code to optimize it, and we won't be getting any updates, which won't make early adopters happy and will make them think twice before buying another NUX product

@@davidpuig5500 I guess you use the same presets for headphone use and FRFR? Those two can differ quite a bit! E.g. I tend to use more reverb with headphone use. Headphones very often are not really neutral in sound (like good FRFR systems) - so they might color you tone with e.g. more bass which can result in more pleasing tones for home playing. Try raising the bass either in EQ block or in output EQ of MG-30.

@@davidpuig5500 Never underestimate the effect of EQing. It can change the sound completely. If your headphones are "EQued" for music listening (as most are) then this will just be like having an always on EQ block in your patch. FRFR speakers - as I said don't tend to EQ for "music listening" they should be essentially flat and neutral

Mg30 distortion is unusable. The noise gate hardly works. Its worth $100 max

Do you think Nux mg400 can use 4 footswitchs for 4 patches selecting? And Why can't Nux mg30 use 3 footswitches for select 3 patches. The designer team of this effect is so stupid.

Yes, this is a budget model...in order to keep the price small we have to accept some compromises...I think...

After watching a bunch of Leo videos still he dosen´t say the complete truth . And the matter is none of these nux processors can be use life because they don´t allow to use pretsets and control them with the footswitches. just up and down . If you have a bare minimum of three presets . A clean a rithm and a solo preset this units tottally useless . The same problem with Mooer GE 200 and Boss Gt1 . Utter stupidity from brands that want to force you the buyer to go for the more complete and overpriced models . A chain is only as strong as it´s weekest link. If the lower models are useless than it dosen´t compell you the buy the "better" models . You would not buy the better model of a bad car why would you do it with a guitar processor ?

@@larrypata around the same price of the Nux MG30 the Hotone Ampero is the winner . A bit chaeper the zoom g5n or the Hb dnafx git pro would be good options or a little more expensive about 50 euros/dls more the zoom g6 or the very apelling Valeton GP 200... in my opinion.

Your arguments are quite incorrect actually: The MG-30 has much more than "3 presets" (actually 128 slots). You can also have up to 3 scenes _per_ patch. You can combine scenes and toggling of single blocks (1 switch to switch scenes and another two switches for single effects). You can also use MIDI foot controllers to control patches (e.g. directly activating a patch or a scene from just one foot switch). And to make one thing absolutely clear: The MG-30 is perfectly useable in live settings. There are quite a lot users who regularly gig with it. Its a bit strange to argue that NUX wants to force users to use "overpriced models" because any of the models are so low priced for their feature set that they are actually a no brainer to choose. For the price of the MG line its hard to find something better.
